I have to say that I saw Cher in concert, because I had season tickets at the venue, this was years ago and she put on a heck of a show. For coming to our little area she brought what was basically a broadway-esque show with her. And she ‘was’ very beautiful in person.

Too bad she’s going this way. Trying to be ‘edgie’ at her age smacks of desperation and it’s pathetic. And, oh geez, attacking nuns. Now, that hasn’t been done before. /s

Sounds like Cher is entering her second childhood.

You have to admire Cher's courage in attacking a risque target like the Catholic Church, Darkwolf. Their decapitation cleavers are being sharpened as we speak!
Sonny would have been so proud.
Blessings, Bob

I wish she hadn't named it SISTERS OF MERCY. There's a wonderful Leonard Cohen song called SISTERS OF MERCY which a wonderful song about faith, grace and redemption...

Oh the sisters of mercy, they are not departed or gone.
They were waiting for me when I thought that I just can't go on.
And they brought me their comfort and later they brought me this song.
Oh I hope you run into them, you who've been travelling so long.

Yes you who must leave everything that you cannot control.
It begins with your family, but soon it comes around to your soul.
Well I've been where you're hanging, I think I can see how you're pinned:
When you're not feeling holy, your loneliness says that you've sinned.

Well they lay down beside me, I made my confession to them.
They touched both my eyes and I touched the dew on their hem.
If your life is a leaf that the seasons tear off and condemn
they will bind you with love that is graceful and green as a stem.

When I left they were sleeping, I hope you run into them soon.
Don't turn on the lights, you can read their address by the moon.
And you won't make me jealous if I hear that they sweetened your night:
We weren't lovers like that and besides it would still be all right,
We weren't lovers like that and besides it would still be all right.

As opposed to the poetry of Leonard Cohen, in his song by the same name: Sisters of Mercy:

“The sisters of mercy they are not forgotten or gone,
they were waiting for me when I felt that I just can’t go on,
They gave me their comfort and later they gave me their song.
I hope you run into them
You who’ve been traveling so long”

And then the really beautiful line.
“If your life is a leaf that the seasons tear off and condemn,
They will bind it with love that is graceful and green as the stem.”

Cher described the songs on her new CD, all of which she wrote, as "dark."

Yes, as in demonic.

Wow! Thanks for posting ALL the verses. One of the few songs I can remember all the lines to.

Sad how poetry, not to mention mercy, has gone SO out of style!

To me, this is one of the most beautiful verse EVER written. Leonard Cohen is a genius, in my estimation:

Well they lay down beside me, I made my confession to them.
They touched both my eyes and I touched the dew on their hem.
If your life is a leaf that the seasons tear off and condemn
they will bind you with love that is graceful and green as a stem.

Yes Nuns have abused their power at times.

When was Cher's last hit record, magazine cover, entertainment TV interview (cricket's chirping)?

At age 62 or 63 for Cher, one would think she'd just get over it. I went to parochial grade school (near same age as Cher) and got my hands whacked by a ruler for not paying attention, but I assure you, I did from that point on.

Anyone seen any well-known artists do work they describe as “light”? I watch the classic movie channel once in awhile just to see innocence and wholesomeness.

I mean, like look who is singing it? No one cares whether she stands on her head.
