Andrew Sullivan: Republicans ‘Quibbling’ Over $400 Billion
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Everyone knows the old line about “a billion here and a billion there, and pretty soon it adds up to real money.” Not for Andrew Sullivan, it doesn’t. Even $400 billion is apparently something to sneeze at, a mere bagatelle not worth “quibbling” over. And so it was that the Atlantic editor excoriated Republicans for making a stand for fiscal conservatism in opposing the stimulus bill.

Sullivan was a guest on this weekend’s edition of the Chris Matthews Show, which sported a certified 100% conservative-free panel. Newsweek’s Howard Fineman did his part, accusing Republicans of being “Chairmen of the Flat Earth Society” for refusing to get on Obama’s big-spending train.

Specter already has a commercial out in PA that defends his vote, tells us how he saved jobs etc.

It’s a pretty sophisticated commercial and was out almost immediately after the final vote. Wonder who paid for it??

Enough of Sullivan.

He’s utterly insane. NEVER going to link to anything by or about him.

The writing is on the wall, for those who can read.

"There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as a result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved."

He used to claim that he was a conservative but the gay marriage issue completely threw him into a tailspin. Now he’s bashing the Repubs for not wanting to expand the size and role of government and I don’t care who you are, if you oppose efforts to limit the growth and power of government then you are NOT a conservative.

From the article:

Criticizing the GOP for finally sticking up for spending restraint instead of signing onto Pres. Obama’s big-spending plan is like condemning an alcoholic for attending an AA meeting instead of going to the beer blast at the frat house.

Anyone remember the outrage over the $40 million investigation over Whitewater?

Republicans probably would have just wasted it on keeping the military strong, preventing more catastrophic terrorist attacks against the US, and letting working taxpayers keep more of their money.

(I mean real taxpayers - not the doublespeak fake ones that actually get money from the IRS instead of paying taxes)

Looks like the effects of shoveling all that money into the War on Poverty.

Anyone remember the outrage over the $40 million investigation over Whitewater?

Or the outrage over the $150,000 worth of clothing for the Palin campaign?

Or the outrage over the $5 million Greek stage setting at Obama's Invesco Field Democratic nomination acceptance speech? Uh, wait...

Where did you get that Debt to GDP graph?

Appears to be off by a factor of six. Does it include the expected debt of future commitments?

I suspect that debt chart shows the ratio of total public and private debt to GDP....not just public debt as your chart depicts.

What is this 'Chris Matthews Show' you speak of?

It has 150,000 cumulative viewers {pmsnbc runs it about 5 times over the weekend, so it works out to 30,000 channel surfers}.

It's a sex show with tingly legs, ugly old fags and queens and promises of lewinskys.

Chrissy girl slobbers on and on about his lust of osamaobama and they all still relish in Bush bashing.
