The scroat died of a leg wound (just dam’n!) — rotten luck for him.

I wonder whether it was blood loss, infection, or shock. Most gunshot wounds to the leg are survivable if adequate first aid is sought and applied.

I guess the gangs are short of medics, ay. That’s a dumb oversight.

And at 31-years old, what’s this scroat doing belonging to a gang? Isn’t he a bit old for that? And shouldn’t he know, by 31 years of age, never to drink while handling firearms? And in a gun-culture society like the US, shouldn’t he also know, at 31 years of age, how to safely clean a gun, without shooting himself in the leg???

Hell’s bells, they are making Crims and Scroats stupider these days!

Probably blood loss/shock judging from the article. He likely hit a major blood vessel. You don’t have long if you clip a femoral artery. What would be ironic is if he used a cell phone to call 911 and was too drunk to give coherent directions. Darwin wins again.
