Oh shame on you. I have tried to tell people that the list of diseases Brockovich claims were caused by asbestos couldn’t have possibly all come from that source. That’s a sure way to get attacks from the left side.

And presuming that a nutty mother might raise a nutty daughter is also off limits.

You are not very politically correct. :-)

A child who isn't loved, nurtured, and taken care of... a child that grows up alone, not only may grow up suffering from depression, but also insecurities and lack of confidence. Some children are emotionally strong and go through hard, emotional times and become strong adults.  Some other children, whose more gentle nature makes them more susceptible to abuse and indifference, have a harder time coping with the pressures of life. And teenagers especially have a lot of pressure growing up.

The movie Erin Brockovich was supposed to be based on the real Erin Brockovich's life. And if that movie is to be believed, Erin Brockovich had three children at the time the movie was made, was divorced twice, dressed up like a street hooker, and talked like one.

As Norma Zager, editor of Beverly Hills Courier, said about Brockovich: “She's not a crusader, but an opportunist. There is nothing wrong with seeking publicity but to do so by using people's fears and worries is not good.”

Our harsh judgment should be reserved for grownups and corrupt politicians who consciously and knowingly diverge from our social moral codes. However, a decision made by a 12 year old growing up alone, while the parents are absent and out pursuing their goals, should be seen more as a desperate cry for help.

I understand that there are loving and caring parents whose rebellious children get into drugs just to spite them (or for whatever other reason), but that doesn't seem the case here.

I sure am glad my mother wasn’t famous. I’ve read about those drug addicts and the stories aren’t pretty.
