Daschle assails Bush tax cut plan
SF Gate ^ | 1.25.2003 | Nick Anderson

Four days before President Bush makes his State of the Union address, the Senate's top Democrat mounted a fresh attack Friday on Bush's tax cut plan and offered an alternative that he said would give the sluggish economy a quick boost.

Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle proposed giving working families tax rebates of up to $1,200, extending benefits to the unemployed, giving businesses new tax breaks and pumping $40 billion to financially distressed cities and states.

With Republicans controlling Congress, Daschle's $112 billion proposal was essentially a manifesto of opposition that has almost no chance of becoming law. B ut Daschle, D-S.D., staked out a negotiating position for his party as the Senate readies for a free-wheeling debate likely to substantially alter Bush's $674 billion proposal to abolish taxes on stock dividends and accelerate to 2003 income tax cuts scheduled for later in the decade, as well as take other measures meant to bolster the economy.

Influential Senate centrists -- Republicans and Democrats -- have been lukewarm and in some cases critical of the Bush plan and are seeking to rewrite large portions of it. Daschle, in a speech in Cleveland, sought to stoke rebellion with a tax-cut proposal he said was aimed at average Americans instead of the wealthier.

As he has since Bush unveiled his plan earlier this month, Daschle belittled the proposal to eliminate the tax on dividends as a giveaway to the rich.

"Economists tell us that the wealthy are far less likely to spend a tax cut than middle-income families," Daschle said. "In an atmosphere of economic weakness and tight budgets, should we be giving scarce dollars to the people who can afford to put them under the mattress?"

Apparently Daschle did more than not pay his taxes. He committed income tax evasion. That put Al Capone in jail. Where will it put Tom Daschle?

LOL wow that’s rich. Typical socialist though. Cheat, lie and act like the biggest hypocrite on the planet, knowing if you do it with confidence and if you’re a Democrat-Socialist the MSM will never call you out on it.

Hauser’s Law...
Straight fact not fiction. Stick it, Dashole!
A fundamental, but not well known, Economic Law is Hauser’s Law. For several resources on it:

2. Very insightful blog post from J.D. Tuccile: http://www.tuccille.com/blog/2008/05/hausers-law-laffer-curve-and-pissed-off.html

Typo in the headline.

I think everything after "Daschle ass" is a typo.

Democrat politicians enjoy raising taxes because they themselves never intend to pay them...

da-A$$hole is back. Didn’t he get blown out of the Senate when found cheating on the Indian Reservation votes?

And how exactly did he make $5 million in two years? Doing what, advising others how to cheat the IRS?

If anyone else skipped $130,000 in taxes (indicating income somewhere around $270,000) they’d go to jail.
