why would anyone want to leave FreeRepublic pages?

Yeah. As this issue proves, it's dangerous out there.

> First, this is kinda a vanity, correct?

Yep, posted under Vanity and News.

> Second, you are certainly increasing Google’s hit count.

Trust me, it's a minuscule increase compared to the number of people hitting it because one person called another, or Skyped, or IM'ed, or (as in my case) emailed.

Google is getting SLAMMED at the moment. Our contribution is invisible.

> Third, If I were at Google, I could take all the IP’s that hit my site during a particular period (like, the second after the thread was posted on FR) and ‘label’ them as Freepers.

That's a joke, right? Everybody at Google is currently running around with their hair on fire. They don't give a cr@p about FReepers at the moment.

> (yep, paranoia it is, I admit)

Yep. Relax and enjoy the show.... Then, I would monitor any file uploading coming in from those IP’s.

It’s time to jettison Google and use Yahoo or AOL as your source pages. Google has been a useful tool for leftists anyway! I reset my home page to Yahoo and recommend this change to all.
