It has cleared the center of Oklahoma where I live a short time ago. No classes at OU, schools, and the Governor is asking people to stay off the roads.

Luckily we had a mix of snow and sleet and not freezing rain this afternoon. We have ice under that mix and roads are very slippery. Unlike in Dec 2007, we didn’t have a huge number of power outages and trees/power poles down this time. Last time we had rain before the ice and caused tree limbs to be heavy.

After going through lack of power in Dec 2007, I really feel for these people tonight.

Oklahoma is hammered. OKC is not bad, but Tulsa and points northeast and east towards the AR line are a mess. No real word on powe outages yet.Just checked OGE website, looks like only a couple of thousand homes without power system wide. OK had a huge ice storm last year and many thousands without power for weeks - OGE has had a major tree trimming project ongoing and cleared tree limbs from around their power lines system wide. We are fortunate that we had very little wind with this storm.............red

Bad ice storm, but we had our really bad one last year. Virtually every tree in Tulsa was harmed. It was the eeriest thing I've ever seen; completely silent except for the freezing rain falling, with tree limbs crashing here and then there.

We had no power for 8 days.

Hate to hear about it again this year. It's got to be even worse in the moutain country of AR, MO, and KY. Our hearts go out to them.

It’s still icy in Oklahoma. I’m in Tulsa and it’s all over the place. But, it’s definitely not like the worst ice storm in state history, of December 2007. Nothing like that at all.

Right now there are a very few flakes of snow coming down. It started on Monday with freezing rain, then later on (many hours later) it turned into ice or snow pellets, and then a bit later, it was then a very light dusting of snow...

It hasn’t melted at all since beginning and everything is coated with ice. It will be here, probably until the end of the week, although it starts warming up very slightly tomorrow...
