Bad ice storm, but we had our really bad one last year. Virtually every tree in Tulsa was harmed. It was the eeriest thing I've ever seen; completely silent except for the freezing rain falling, with tree limbs crashing here and then there.

We had no power for 8 days.

Hate to hear about it again this year. It's got to be even worse in the moutain country of AR, MO, and KY. Our hearts go out to them.

You are referring to the Dem Congress and The 0 now being in office, aren’t you?? This ice storm will pale in $$ compared to what the 0-crew will cost.

I empathize with these folks.

I have already gone through one ice storm here in NH (and hopefully the last for this winter season). Being out of power for 7 days before Christmas was no fun, especially when the night were down in the low 20’s. But that was warm compared to the past week.

Will this be the Marxist Pig's “Katrina”? I hope not, for the sake of the folks in the affected areas.

old info..much more ice since this

Freezing rain snapped icy power lines in northern Arkansas, leaving 165,000 customers in the dark. In Jonesboro and Fort Smith, Ark., electricity in homes and businesses could remain out for the rest of the week.

Outages stretched into Kentucky, where more than 60,000 people are without power. Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear declared a state of emergency today after heavy ice weighed down tree limbs, causing branches to snap and scatter across the roads.

A “tree split and all we just heard was the crack and then everything coming down,” said Kentucky resident Greg Kubiak. “Ever since, it’s just listening to branches come down and trying to keep out of the way.

Here in Northern Kentucky we seem to be doing ok. Maybe 6 inches of snow and it's freezing rain out now. Powerlines are starting to droop a bit.

Prayed for ya’ll during that. I still have bad dreams from the 2007 ice storm that hit SW Missouri.

And what Janet88 was describing earlier, was what we heard all night long the night that storm started. I knew when I heard the 8 power poles snap like cannons we’d be in for a long haul. 12 days with no power.

We’ve since gotten a generator. Went around last nite and checked the supplies “just in case”. I think we bit the bullet this time around. Lot of sleet and now a good deal of snow but NO ICE!
