reports coming in of major damage from 1-2 inches of ice over the area..its still raining with temps below freezing in many areas.
information is sketchy but major damage to infrastructure are trickling in. Damage to houses from falling trees, multiple power poles down, and widespread power outages
Travel is impossible in many area because of 100's of downed trees blocking the roads.
Fires are reported in some area
widespread state of emergencies issued
Northern AR, SE MO and western KY seems to the the hardest hit so far..but things are icing up fast now in the Louisville/Lexington areas too
If I keep my chin up, I get sleet up my nose
I believe this will be the most costly disaster in KY’s history
LOL!!! I think the hot air has gotten even hotter this year
! :)

Well just blow it when it starts to fill.....practice your 0 pose...all good Libs are practicing. I hear come spring, there’s gonna be a nationwide contest and the winner gets a Chinese made Mussolini statue trouhy.
We had no power for 8 days.
Hate to hear about it again this year. It's got to be even worse in the moutain country of AR, MO, and KY. Our hearts go out to them.
You know, I do see the resemblance.
You are referring to the Dem Congress and The 0 now being in office, aren’t you?? This ice storm will pale in $$ compared to what the 0-crew will cost.
I have already gone through one ice storm here in NH (and hopefully the last for this winter season). Being out of power for 7 days before Christmas was no fun, especially when the night were down in the low 20’s. But that was warm compared to the past week.
Will this be the Marxist Pig's “Katrina”? I hope not, for the sake of the folks in the affected areas.
Yeap, me too it ain’t the skin color neither....it’s the attitude.
old info..much more ice since this
Freezing rain snapped icy power lines in northern Arkansas, leaving 165,000 customers in the dark. In Jonesboro and Fort Smith, Ark., electricity in homes and businesses could remain out for the rest of the week.
Outages stretched into Kentucky, where more than 60,000 people are without power. Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear declared a state of emergency today after heavy ice weighed down tree limbs, causing branches to snap and scatter across the roads.
A “tree split and all we just heard was the crack and then everything coming down,” said Kentucky resident Greg Kubiak. “Ever since, it’s just listening to branches come down and trying to keep out of the way.

I hope Al Gore’s mansion is iced in.

Not good at all, at all.
Keep it up anyway!
God bless,
Col Jim
“Bad ice storm, but we had our really bad one last year. Virtually every tree in Tulsa was harmed. It was the eeriest thing I’ve ever seen; completely silent except for the freezing rain falling, with tree limbs crashing here and then there.”
Prayed for ya’ll during that. I still have bad dreams from the 2007 ice storm that hit SW Missouri.
And what Janet88 was describing earlier, was what we heard all night long the night that storm started. I knew when I heard the 8 power poles snap like cannons we’d be in for a long haul. 12 days with no power.
We’ve since gotten a generator. Went around last nite and checked the supplies “just in case”. I think we bit the bullet this time around. Lot of sleet and now a good deal of snow but NO ICE!
That’s gotta be a wet snow and ice to do that....I grew up in the Mtns of NC...I know what snow and ice can do....wooooo hoooo break out my sled and snow bob!! Put the chains on the bug, grab my skis and off to Sugar or Beech!!
What’s expected around Huntsville, AL?
My dad is in Kansas City for a conference. Looks like the storm just missed there.
