(01-13) 04:00 PST Washington --

Even before Barack Obama is sworn in as president, some cracks are appearing in the alliance between the incoming administration and its Democratic allies in Congress.

Top lawmakers are questioning details of the president-elect's nearly $1 trillion economic stimulus plan. And while Obama wants Congress to release the second half of the $700 billion financial rescue program, House Democrats are insisting on voting on legislation this week setting restrictions on how his administration can use the money.

Behind the scenes, Obama's aides and congressional leaders are coordinating their moves closely. But publicly, lawmakers are seeking to show they won't just rubber-stamp the new president's agenda and at times will oppose his initiatives.

"We are not potted plants," California Sen. Barbara Boxer said Monday. "We are going to give our opinion."

Boxer is taking her cues from Feinstein. California Democrats are independent-minded. Watch this carefully.

"We are not potted plants," California Sen. Barbara Boxer said Monday.

True true. More like a certain type of fertilizer.

I think someone has already raised the notion that this may very well be an orchestrated *show.*

Oh, bull.

The Rats will always respond to one of two things: 1) An opportunity to increase their party's power at America’s expense, or 2) Lining their own pockets.

I wonder if Obama will institute “The Chicago Way” once he gets into office. He has room to spare with his Democrat count. He needs only to have a couple of them indicted and the rest of them will shut up and cave.

Wait until Franken, Burris and Schlossberg (Kennedy) get there. They’ll straighten things out!

Feinstein is a tough read sometimes.

Her husband and she were enriched by shady dealings with the Chicoms and yet she seems to be one of the few Rats who understands the importance of national security.

Heck. Republicans are hard to heard anymore. RINOs, fiscal conservatives, social conservatives, moderates and middle grounders... I think it’s just politicians in general with self interests.

They remind me of the seagulls in Finding Nemo

Aren’t we lucky to have people from CA taking care of the nation’s business?—they’re so good at running their state’s business!

I’m wondering is there are hard feelings between some senators and Obama. The guy was there for all of 147 days, did jack, never stuck his neck out over anything.....and now HE’S the party leader. I think there might be some resentment, so the Senate Dems are going to make him pay his dues, one way or another.
