Bush on border agents: 'I'm not talking pardons'

President Bush has extensively discussed his immigration reform policy in exit interviews and given a $60,000 bonus to a Border Patrol chief who has been criticized for not supporting Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean – but he refuses to talk about whether pardons could be in store for the imprisoned agents.

In a Jan. 6 interview with John Gizzi, political editor of Human Events, Bush said he regrets that the comprehensive immigration bill he endorsed did not prevail.

"Well, I'm sorry it didn't pass, because I felt strongly that the comprehensive approach to immigration reform was necessary for border enforcement, as well as recognizing that there are people willing to do work Americans won't do," Bush said. "[W]ithout the law, by the way, we did put fence up, and the border is becoming more secure. People are now recognizing the truth that there are fewer crossings, and we've ended the catch and release and issues like that."

Bush expressed concern for illegal aliens who risk their lives to come to the United States.

"I don't like it when the law is so antiquated that people who are willing to do hard work become contraband, they get stuffed in the bottom of 18-wheelers in order to come and do a job that others aren't willing to do. I don't think that's right," he said.

Only two days later, the Washington Times reported Bush awarded a $61,200 bonus to Border Patrol Chief David V. Aguilar, who has been criticized by members of his own agency for refusing to support Ramos and Compean after they were sentenced to 11 and 12-year prison sentences, respectively, for shooting at an illegal alien drug dealer while he attempted to smuggle 750 pounds of marijuana across the border.

Yeah, right.

Respectfully, Mr. President, Go...Pound...Sand.

We have rising unemployment and extension of unemployment benefits, and you claim that we don't have enough workers? Maybe you should learn a little economics.

There is something that is putting a really bad smell on President Bush. Why does he lack the courage of standing for these two Border Agents?

He, like the Republican party, have increasingly accepted socialism over the years to expand the voter base.

It wasn’t helpful that they interfered with a crime scene—which is illegal—and it was their own scene. Worse yet.

Exactly why common Republicans of the older, conservative, Constitutional order need to start looking hard at replacing the party.

The Constitution Party, America’s Independent Party and the Falcon Party need to begin hosting some cookouts together and invite some Republicans.

They should invite Conservatives instead of Republicans. They are not necessarily one and the same.

His failure to pardon these two guys is just the tip of the iceberg.

This failure, added to the larger failure to pardon all those who fought in the War on Terror -- a blanket pardon to stop the coming leftist witch-hunts -- will taint his legacy forever.

Does he like it when US citizens are murdered by illegal aliens who ‘come here for a better life’? What about that, GWB? All this concern about people who’ve broken the law, invaded the country and who don’t give two cents for the culture, values, language, or anything else the US stands for, and not one tear shed for US citizens. Mexico didn’t care about Mexicans, didn’t bother to educate them, etc.. No, just told them to head north and send money home. Now we’re in danger of Mexican drug gangs, who see us as sitting ducks. And why not? That’s what we are. When will GW care? When he’s impacted personally, that’s when.

LOL Bush sounds just like the same Liberal he ran as back in 2000 when no one was really listening to a word he was actually saying. Or worse when they listened they explained his LIBERALISM as being some secret wise strategy to fool Da Bad Ole DEMs wink wink. Too bad many blind Republicans followed him just like the screaming love sick teenagers did The Beatles in the early 60’s.

Yep. You can't polish a turd.

The only think the little weasel had going for him was that Gore and Kerry were worse.

Some of us don't see shooting an invader in the butt as a crime. That thinking is reserved for quislings.

I think they should have been given medals for trying to repel an invader from a foreign country. But, I guess you don't care that they were trying to protect you and your family.

Allowing these two innocent border agents to be prosecuted and then imprisoned is the major reason George W. Bush will someday rot in hell.

There is no political reason to hurt people like this with no eternal payback.
