President George W. Bush will give a farewell address to the nation Thursday night, billed by the administration as a chance to reflect on his tenure and welcome Barack Obama without fighting old battles one last time.

Bush will deliver the speech, expected to run 10 to 15 minutes, from the ornate East Room of the White House. He will have a small audience of people in the room, chosen for their stories of personal courage.

White House press secretary Dana Perino said Monday that Bush will "uphold the tradition of presidents using farewell addresses to look forward — ....

*snip*

Perino said the speech will be the last scheduled public event for Bush as president until he appears on the North Portico to greet Obama on Inauguration Day, which is Jan. 20.

God bless you, Pres. Bush.

You kept your charge, you kept us safe, against all odds, for 7+ years.

Nah... it will be his last big event opportunity to push for Amnesty, and he’ll use it...

I’ll give him a C+ as a president. Way too liberal for me when it came to spending, education, amnesty, etc but he did a solid job on terrorism (though some blunders were made). The whole bailout/Paulson mess has lowered him a notch.

Thank you, President Bush.

History will judge you well. You are a good President who navigated some of the worst storms in US history.

God help us all now.

From there he’ll go on his apology tour.
Good grief. Wake me up in 2012.

As much as this guy has p*ssed me off (illegal immigration, his RINO agenda, etc etc) I am going to miss him. And the fact is, he has kept us safe from terrorism for the last eight years and took out some major bad guys in the process.

One thing is for sure - the next four (eight?) years are going to make us miss him even more.

Hey Jorge, don’t forget about Agents Ramos & Compean, ok?

GWB: “Ramos? Compean? Rameon noodles? Complain? Somebody complaining about Rameon noodles? Sorry, got to catch that Legacy Express leaving on track one, see the new guy, ok?”

Thank you, President Bush. I don’t think any other person would have shown the class and grace that you did while under the constant vial onslaught over so many years.

Ooops .. forgot to mention .....

NOT seeking opinions of Pres. Bush, who last I looked, has been responsible .. along with our unparalleled military .. for preventing terrorist attacks (beheadings, etc.) on ANY US citizen in ANY state, county, city or town in the whole United States of America.

Thank you.

We will miss you President Bush. Though not perfect, you gave us solid Supreme Court judges and helped keep us safe from terror. You are being replaced by an inferior man.

Thank you for your service and may God always bless you, your family, and America. I pray he also protects us from Obama and all those that are like him.

You said what I would have said, STARWISE.

I didn’t have to agree with him on everything in order to acknowledge all the good things this honorable and decent man has done for us all.
