This is the fundamental problem with trying to “reform” Islam. The problems go right back to the Prophet himself. Murder, rape, enslavement, beheadings, conquest of the innocent, lying under oath, stoning of women, and all the rest of it. The early writings, including the Koran, not only describe these things, they boast about them and set them up as models for imitation.
There are, to all appearances, more than a few decent Muslims in the world, but that seems to be in spite of their religion, not because of it.
There have been plenty of evil Christians in the world, who committed evil deeds in the supposed name of Christianity, but Jesus was not their model. Jesus did not carry a sword, cut off his enemies’ heads, rape women, enslave captives, lie for convenience. Mohammed did.
Now doesn’t all this make for a really keen religion?
