Panel to declare Franken winner of Senate race

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (CNN) -- A state election board on Monday will announce Democrat Al Franken has defeated Republican incumbent Norm Coleman in Minnesota's U.S. Senate race, state officials told CNN Sunday.

The canvassing board on Monday will say a recount determined Franken won by 225 votes, Secretary of State Mark Ritchie told CNN.

However, Coleman's campaign, which contends the recount should have included about 650 absentee ballots it says were improperly rejected in the initial count, has indicated it will challenge the certification.

Coleman campaign manager Cullen Sheehan said his team believes the recount process was broken and that "the numbers being reported will not be accurate or valid."

I have a difficult time believing that there are actually Americans who think that electing Al Franken would even be on the table. Stunning.

Golly gee willikers, I am shocked that during the recount enough votes were found to make the dem the winner. I guess there is no need to keep counting anymore. No more magical lost boxes found.

Norm Coleman wasn’t a great prize, but Al Franken is a joke. American politics has truly sunk: an inexperienced hack is going to be President and a second-rate comedy writer will be a Senator.

America, you get what you deserve.

The American Sheep are as stupid as words can tell.

They have voted their freedoms away. As much as they have been taught to hate Presdient Bush for doing so, they have willingly embraced the yoke of Socialism.

It’s going to be a long eight years.

What makes Coleman think he will get enough of the 650 to make a difference?

He should be ashamed of himself for running such a pisspoor campaign for this to even come within 40 percentage points of happening.

Let the lawsuits begin. I think Coleman has a good case that those 133 “missing ballots” were counted twice.

Congratulations to the Minnies! This is a historical moment for America! The first professional clown in the U.S. Senate. We've come a long ways from just sending amateur clowns up there!

The whole “recount” was a joke, Franken wouldn’t shut up til they cheated and made sure he won. What a farce, can’t say I am shocked, if an empty suit can become President then a clown like Franken can become Senator. Next up Caroline “you know” kennedy

Didn’t the Romans start electing sheep for office at the end?

Recount a joke? Yes. A perfect rip off of a joke otherwise known as “voter intent”.

Yes, the socialists were able to look at a Coleman ballot, read the voters mind and declare it a vote for Frankin:
