This was the emotional moment that President-elect Barack Obama scattered his grandmother's ashes into the sea.

With half-sister Maya Soetoro-Ng by his side, Mr Obama bid his final farewell to the woman he called the rock of his family at the Hawaiian beauty spot. Barefoot and wearing sunglasses, Mr Obama embraced his half-sister as they paid their last respects to Madelyn Dunham, who died of cancer, aged 86, just two days before he won the election.

Ping for Lucy, just because...

From another site... questioning the legality of doing exactly what Obama did.

http://www.epa.gov/region4/water/oceans/burial.html

Disposal location and measures - Cremated remains
Cremated remains shall be buried in or on ocean waters without regard to the depth limitations specified for non-cremated remains in paragraph 2 above provided that such burial takes place at least three nautical miles from land.

SOOOOOO, there would be photo op three nautical miles from land.

Is this Grandma’s remains or a good photo op?

Or did Obama break federal EPA regulations?

Please see my recently posted EPA guideline for burying cremated remains at sea.

Obama either broke the law or threw some fireplace ashes into the wind.

Was Barak’s granny cremated using natural gas? That’s a high carbon footprint cremation. Why aren’t the envirofreaks screaming for green cremation techniques? Solar Ovens, or toss them into the volcano? Hypocrites!

The only person in Obama’s life to give him stability and direction

i think he chose sides and direction many years ago, thus the obvious divide between Obama and his grandmother. And until he started running for the pres., I suspect he only had contact with her via phone maybe at Christmas, if at all.

In actuality the President has very limited effect on the economics of the country. The best thing any Prez can do is encourage the people. This is where I miss Reagan.

People are cremated, ashes are scattered, most don’t consider exhumation when there is no crime.

Right - his maternal ancestry is not in question anyway.

Merry Christmas everybody!

I scattered my father's ashes in the desert in Arizona. They didn't look like the ashes Barry Hussein is dumping. my dads ashes were black with some gray, and not as fine. Also whats Barry afraid of in that photo? I grabbed handfuls of the old man's ashes and threw them high into the wind. Barry is such a dork.

Strangely absent were Obama’s African siblings. I’m sure they would have enjoyed getting of of their hovels in the slums to spend Christmas in Hawaii with half brother Barry.

Am I the only one who is amazed and the timimg of all of this and am disturbed that now there is not a body to be exumed if needed?

No, you aren't. Everything about Hussein is carefully choreographed for maximun effect and media manipulation of his persona.

He has been groomed for this moment from a long time ago.

Yeah, did you see the jump in the air moment of Michelle jumping into Zero’s arms? Nice funeral moment.

Somehow, I get the feeling there was no love lost between Michelle my Belle and Grandma Dunham.

Michelle didn't even bring the kids to see the beloved, failing Toot in August when they were all there in Hawaii. No one said anything, but they didn't have to. That spoke volumes.

I’m with you Mimaw—I don’t see the big scary coming. I think he’s a pragmatist who will govern from the center. I could be wrong, of course. But for the country’s sake, I wish him well on keeping his promises—lower taxes for the middle class, a practical end to the Iraq war, and more jobs.

Good luck, Barack-You’re going to need it.-you are the dog that caught the car.

W cleared brush on his Texas property before his presidency, during, and will continue to do so, after he leaves office. He actually works on his land. I don’t consider it a photo-op.
