I think you are right that it is up in the air. From what I remember, there were constant challenges, laws, etc., regarding marijuana possession.
You might be right on the amount that is legal. I was under the impression that you were allowed some tiny amount, even less than an ounce, and that you could grow 5 plants for your own use. I could be wrong, though. I moved out of Alaska 9 years ago.
Even William F Buckley condemned the “drug war” as a huge waste of law enforcement resources and an attack on individual liberty.
Personal responsibility means just that...it's personal.
Prohibition was repealed because it was an utter failure and clearly PROMOTED crime ,graft, and gangs..

Bush gave the CORRECT answer when asked about former drug use...

Oh, about the same degree of stupid as the Republican Party operatives who pushed McCain into picking the totally unvetted, utterly unqualified Sarah Palin as his VP running-mate. With some people, no matter how obvious the bad consequences of an action, they’ll forge right ahead with the action anyway.
I'll believe that when it happens. And in the unlikely event it ever does, the divorce will follow will breath-taking speed (most likely preceded by a few tabloid-grabbing stunts like Levi -- and maybe Bristol too -- getting arrested for dealing drugs, affairs with other local lowlifes, drunk driving, etc). If Sarah really believes all the "family values" stuff she spouts, the last thing she should be pursuing right now is "making it back to the national stage".

BRISTOL PALIN’s future mother-in-law’s arrest seems to be interesting to the people on this blog site. I found the following information on the Anchorage Daily News website. Hope you find it entertaining. The website’s link follows too. I guess you would consider me a “hillbilly” also, since I’m from the hills of Kentucky. But at least I had enough sense to look for some accurate information!

WASILLA — Wasilla resident Sherry L. Johnston, mother of Bristol Palin’s boyfriend, faces a Jan. 6 court date for an oxycontin-related arrest at her home by Alaska State Troopers....
She was arrested around noon Thursday by troopers serving a search warrant in an undercover drug investigation. A standard press released issued by troopers said Johnston was arrested on six felony counts: second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance — generally manufacturing or delivering drugs — as well as fourth-degree misconduct involving controlled substances, or possession.
