I’m really sorry that Bristol’s dating was not supervised by her parents. There’s alot of wisdom to the old adage of asking “Is he from a good family?”. Yes, the Democrats/news media (same thing) will not let this leave the news any time soon. Have any of our other Presidents had children involved with lowlifes? Maybe so, but I don’t like it. Just my opinion, of course.

Too many on this site are willing to accept it as OK --I agree with you

But what galls me is how Al Gore's kid was given a break during the 2000 campaign

The mother of Levi Johnston, who gained fame as the boyfriend of Bristol Palin, was arrested in Wasilla, Alaska Thursday on six felony drug charges.

Poor kid.

I don’t smoke pot any longer and I don’t have a problem with others smoking it but this seems a bit more serious. We all want to hope it’s only pot that is involved but none of us know that for a fact. All that aside, I don’t think this should reflect on Sarah, one way or the other.

My point was not about the drug issue (which I have strong opinions on but haven't stated here). It was more about the double standard about *Sarah* ..... Al Gore's kid (one degree of separation), hushed up, it's his family and a private matter...nothing to see here... move along. Sarah Palin’s daughter's boyfriend's mother (three degrees of separation)... direct reflection on Sarah and her parenting and by extension her leadership ability, and perhaps it should keep her from ever appearing on the national scene again.

I replied to you, but my post was more directed at everyone on here that wants to believe it only involves pot when none of us know that to be a fact.

IIRC, Al Gore’s kid getting busted was pretty much big news on FR with many here saying how terrible it was. There is almost as much a double standard on FR as there is in the MSM. Both sides need to be held to the exact same standards, if not by the media at least by FR.

“is he from a good family”

You mean a child can not rise above what his family is. They are doomed to be a low life also. Please

I personally know many who have come from what you might consider “low life family” who are pillars of society. Good Christian people.

How about the opposite, a good family who turns out a bad child. That does happen doesn’t it.

Maybe not children but what about Roger Clinton, Billy Carter, not to mention the Clintons themselves. These are closer than the mother of the son who will marry the dau of the president.

I agree that both sides should be held to the same standard, here and elsewhere. That said we are talking *kid* (and lets throw in brothers.... a la Billy, Roger and Hillary’s brother all of whom had scandals ignored) versus *kid’s boyfriend’s mother*. Kinda reaching it seems to me.

And technically, not even an in law yet. Has a wedding date actually been set? For now she’s just the mother to Bristol’s baby daddy.

"I'm sure it will get much more play than the arsonist who tried to burn down the Governor's church while trapping women and children inside."

They were trapped? Every report I read indicated that the women and kids were not restricted or held or prevented in any way from leaving the building.

As I recall, Geraldine Ferraro’s kid, John Zaccaro, was dealing drugs in his college dormitory, and was busted shortly after Mondale/Ferraro lost in 1984. The called him “The Pharmacist”, IIRC...

Ah, here it is...

Zaccaro Guilty of Cocaine Sale; Appeal Planned (NY TIMES)

LEAD: A jury today found John A. Zaccaro Jr. guilty of selling cocaine to an undercover officer two years ago, rejecting a defense lawyer's argument that the officer had entrapped Mr. Zaccaro.

A jury today found John A. Zaccaro Jr. guilty of selling cocaine to an undercover officer two years ago, rejecting a defense lawyer's argument that the officer had entrapped Mr. Zaccaro.

The jury deliberated for slightly more than two hours before finding the son of Geraldine A. Ferraro, the 1984 Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate, guilty of selling one-quarter gram of the drug in February 1986 while he was a student at Middlebury College.

(etc...)

I live in the valley and yes it has been called the meth capitol of the state. Lately I have seen heroin making its return unfortunately. I have heard that the meth busts are making it more difficult and the drug culture finds it easier to get the heroin.

I was under the impression that possession of an ounce or less in your home is still legal, and that court cases have made it unclear whether possession of one to four ounce or growing up to 25 plants is illegal. Alaska's constitution gives more privacy rights than any other states. Their Supreme Court has found that Alaskans have a right to possess some marijuana and even grow a little. Laws were passed to counteract the court decision, but they were overturned in court. From what I understand the legislature there has again passed laws against possession of more than an ounce which have been challenged in court and were found to be be unconstitutional, and appeals from those cases are still ongoing. I haven't really been keeping up with that so I'm not certain what the status is now. I think everything is still up in the air.

You know, it’s nice to know that with all that’s going on in the world, at least part of the press is still focused on what’s truly important.

Speaking of low-lifes, Barack Obama’s father deserted his wife and family in Kenya to marry the president-elect’s mother. Then his father deserted his second family when Obama was 2 years old and later divorced his mother.

What’s your point again?
