No Southerners yet in Obama Cabinet (Where's the diversity?)

Barack Obama is 15 picks into his Cabinet — he announced New Yorker Shaun Donovan as his Housing and Urban Development head on Saturday—but has yet to name one who hails from the South. "Not a one," grumbles a one senior Democratic aide who hails from the South. "Not even half of one, unless you count Hillary Clinton, and she doesn't count because she's not even an Arkansan anymore. She's a Yankee."

To be fair, the official voice of the White House will come with a Southern drawl: Robert Gibbs, Obama’s soon-to-be press secretary, is an Alabama native.

But going back to at least John F. Kennedy, every other new president has populated his initial Cabinet with one or more Southerners. Former Texas Gov. George W. Bush included at least three Southerners in his first Cabinet: Donald Evans at Commerce and Rod Paige at Education and Florida’s Mel Martinez at Housing and Urban Development.

So why hasn’t Obama – who picked up 55 Electoral College votes in North Carolina, Virginia nad Florida – rewarded the region with a Cabinet secretary of its own?

Well someone needs to tell whatever southern/Reagan/conservative/”Blue Dog” style Democrats are left that they’re the ones who could’ve stopped the election.

Instead, they took that special breed of failed socialist mega-urban gutter entitlements to the national level.

You won’t see any Grover Cleveland Democrats in this administration. For the next 4 years, he’s going to fill the government with nothing but Chicago, New York, DC and Philly garbage.

"He mightg be concerned about their attire. Gone are the days of just reguale white percale sheets. Today’s southerner will wear only 600+ thread count designer sheet sets.... "

Now you know we don't have any of that anymore in the South...you northern boys came down years ago and eradicated that stuff....

I get tired of reading Obama from cover to cover or the other issue totally devoted to Obamas wife. I get tired of hearing about her $30,000 rhodium and diamond ring. Never heard this stuff with the last two first ladies.

As someone who believes that Obama’s election is a national disaster, I do not like to be reminded of how “wonderful” he is.

I could believe that, after Obama was elected, he began to backtrack on his campaign promises and outlook. He probably thought to himself, ‘what did I promise. I haven’t even finished a first term as Senator. I don’t have any idea what to do as President’, as he lights up a smoke in the white house.

None of the southerners make it past the question “Do you or any member of your family own a gun?”

Helloooo!!! He won the election. He’s got all his ducks in a row. He can pick anyone he chooses and will get them approved. Losing elections have consequences and we lost.

He will get former Dallas mayor Ron Kirk in there and call him a southerner. And as the mayor of Dallas, Ron Kirk made many things ‘go South’ during his administration.

It doesn’t matter who sits in the cabinet of Oprah’s Choice. They will all be lapdogs regardless. The names are irrelevant. All will do things that have to be covered up by the Oprah-style media.

Are you kidding: there are millions of southerners who would sell their birthright to sit at the feet of “The Master”?
