Franken camp wins two key rulings
Al Frankens campaign won two key rulings today that may help him overcome a tiny deficit against Sen. Norm Coleman in the Minnesota Senate recount.
The Minnesota Canvassing Board unanimously recommended that all counties include the absentee ballots that were unfairly rejected on Election Day in the recount. Election officials throughout the state have been sorting absentee ballots based on why they were rejected and putting aside a fifth group (called the fifth pile) with those unfairly rejected ballots.
Minnesotas Deputy Secretary of State predicted over 1,500 ballots fall in this category. If theyre included, they could potentially overturn Colemans razor-thin lead. Coleman leads Franken by 192 votes, according to the Secretary of States official count.
Earlier, the Canvassing Board voted unanimously to include the 133 missing ballots from a Minneapolis precinct that voted overwhelmingly for Franken -- another victory for the Franken camp. Colemans campaign argued the ballots may never have existed in the first place, and shouldnt have been counted.
Next week, the Canvassing Board will pore over as many as 4,000 ballots that both campaigns have disputed.

Exactly.
It should be a punch ballot that you have to cast on election day. If you’re out of the country and NOT a member of the military, then too damned bad!
Our country has been surrendered to liars and thieves. The outrageous thing is that WE surrendered it when we should have stood up and DEMANDED that the right thing be done. I think that it should begin at the bottom strata, where we live. Is it too late? I’m not sure but it’s going to take a LONG TIME to correct things.
I thought Coleman was going to win until I read this - no more. Coleman has been ahead in every poll, but a runoff in a state in a year of unprecedented voter fraud and corruption, I think Stuart Smalley is going to win - even if he has to print out some “missing” ballots.

“Uhmmm, How do you count 133 missing ballots?????”
You are being ridiculous. Start with what’s best for Al and what Al needs.
Al needs votes. There’s your answer.
What a scam.
They mean that they will go with the original election night tally. The 129 of the 133 are known to have been run through the machines twice. So effectively this means that at least 129 voters get their votes counted twice.
I wouldn’t be too quick to conclude those absentee ballots will favor Franken. I am not familiar with MN, but normally, absenteee ballots tend to favor Republicans.
How do they know how many votes Stuart Smalley got? They must have counted this batch before "they went missing."
Truer words were never spoken.

And the scamming scum are beyond embarrassment.
Boy that Norm sure is a fighter eh. (S/)
Hasn’t Franken stolen this thing yet?
define unfair...
What is an ‘unfairly rejected’ ballot? I know what an unlawfully rejected ballot, and what a lawfully accepted ballot is, but I don’t know what fairly and unfairly rejected ballots are.
If the democrats persist to the point that franken wins, would that be reasonable grounds to just abolish the senate altogether?
