Oh goody ... another newbie with a birth certificate vanity.
From what I've seen, I have to agree.
The paper trail created by our birth certificates, school records, marriage licenses, etc. is what proves beyond a doubt we are legal 'persons'.
Zero changed is name in college after the age of 18. The question is, did he ever LEGALLY change his name from Soetoro after adoption by his Indonesian stepfather.
IMHO, he is an illegal- returned from Indonesia on a foreign student visa and never left or became naturalized.
Get a new lawyer - cause you cant be President.
Your example of a Canadian born father, with premature Canadian birth by an American mother - may indeed make you a US citizen.
But NOT a Natural Born US Citizen.
I think the Supremes are waiting for the right case. I hope I am right.
Sorry I believe in winning. We are on the RIGHT side. If you are playing football and the other guy kicks you in the jewels, well you hit him in the throat. But I am Scotish.
Great! You're part way there.
All you need now is someone who meets all of these conditions:
I'm extremely skeptical that anyone can make it all the way with this issue.
I am more confident that laws can be enacted on the state and federal level to require proper documentation of qualifications, preferably at the state level, before putting candidates' names on the ballots. At least there you have a shot at preventing this in the future, possibly limiting the alleged non-"natural born citizen" to a single term because he might not qualify for the ballot in 2012.
So, you’ve quit. There’s a lot here like you.
I will say this, I'm very uncomfortable with a court ordering Obama to produce a birth certificate at this time and disqualifying him based on that. That kind of action would be legislating from the bench. At this time, there is no law anywhere that requires a candidate for President of the United States to provide a birth certificate. No other President has ever provided a birth certificate. And I don't like judicial activism. I don't ever want judges just making up new laws on a whim.
Now, if all of the conditions I listed above can be met, I'm all for going the route of the courts, and doing it now. Although, it would have been better for that information to have been brought forward much earlier in the process. In the real world, I don't think anything will be done at this point in this election cycle.
That's why I think the best approach, in the absence of irrefutable proof that Obama isn't a natural born citizen, is to pursue state legislation in every state (or at least many states) to require future candidates to provide documentation of their qualifications for the office before listing them on the ballot.
