Obama has access to the actual BC when he was born under whatever name that was.

Upon his adoption by his mother’s second husband Obama’s original BC was sealed as his old identity no longer existed in the eyes of the law.

His adoption in Indonesia created a huge paper trail between two countries, the State of Hawaii and local government where is stepfather lived. He was issued a new BC and both governments created records of equal value and weight in term of his new identity under the law.

His mother would have to present his original BC for the adoption to take place. Where are those copies?

Was the BC with is new identity Barry Sotero issued by Indonesia? Where is that new BC with Lolo listed as his father?

Upon Barry Sotero’s return to the US he reached the age of emancipation and change his name to Barack Obama.

When did he do that? What was the legal process? He would have to notify multiple government agencies and this would have cost a tidy sum.

This process does not change your BC of adoption. In this case Barry Sotero. It only changes your name as you are not being adopted by anyone and the government is not developing a legal document of lawful parentage.

You are changing your name only.

Here is the rub, the copy of the BC you are seeing online is or could be issued to valid BC holders and might be the short form in lieu of a deep record search.

In other words the BC is a fraud. In order for Barack Obama to show a BC that contains his name of Barack Obama and his father and mother as we know it, the state of Hawaii would only have a long form document.

Barack Obama has access to his original BC before he was born but it is no longer valid. He can present either the short form, which many of us have seen or present the long form but they are not valid.

You... cannot change your adoption records or the alteration of those records for the purpose of adoption.

You can call yourself John Wayne and even legally change your name. But, your birth certificate will still say you are Marion Robert Morrison, born in Iowa, blah, blah, blah.

There!

I too was adopted, along with my brother and sister, when I was seven. My background is identical to Obama’s except that my adoption took place in two states and I have known my real father and all my relatives all my life.

I too looked into changing my last name back to my original, sometimes thinking about a heritage legacy thing. Obama changed his name to suit the identity he wanted. I probably won’t change my name as I would not hurt my dad’s feelings (you can call him stepfather).

Was your original birth certificate sealed?
If so, can you access it?

My father was adopted by a man who’s heritage is quite different than his own. I know my fathers, fathers last name. It is the name of a county in Ireland. While I had never seriously considered changing my own last name, I will more than likely use the Irish county name as a middle name for a child if ever I am blessed with one.
I sure agree with you though - your real father, the man who raised you would be terribly hurt if you changed your name. It would be such an insult.

You are assuming his step daddy adopted him. Maybe he didn't unless we know that for sure. If he was adopted in Indonesia, then he can't be president in my view. Even if he was naturalized again, that isn't the law, otherwise Ahnold could be president. It matters not where you came from before, but where you came from last. Mom didn't have to allow him to be adopted, but changing his name usually denotes adoption. As usual though, we just don't know unless he volunteers it.

If this is going to be a sticking point for the next few years, then why not just produce the BC? He was supposed to be a uniter.

I can't just overlook the Constitution because others want to. That's anarchy. Bill Clinton lied under oath in front of the whole world and no one seems to care. He may end up ambassador of the world or something. For me, he will always be a perjurer that got away with breaking the law. Obama can never get my confidence if he won't even do the simplest thing to bring us together. We can argue over different policies, but I can't even recognize him as president at this rate.

His adoption in Indonesia created a huge paper trail between two countries...

U.S. Congressman Eni Faleomavaega (D -- American Samoa) was in Jakarta, Indonesia, where had a private meeting in Jakarta with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Barnabas Suebu the governor for the Indonesian province of Papau. In the meeting, Faleomavaega asked to travel to Obama's childhood school.

According to our Indonesian sources, "officials" who accompanied Faleomavaega were interested in acquiring any and all documentation or photographs of a young Barry Soetoro for America's "national archives" and they were offering cash, lots of it. In a show of faith, Barack Obama's childhood school would be one of the very first beneficiaries of this outpouring receiving thousands of dollars to upgrade the school and for the purchase of computer equipment, thanks in part to the benevolence of this visiting junket.

The challenge of course was securing Indonesian government records potentially damaging to Barack Obama's candidacy for the U. S. presidency as well as other records pertaining to a young Barry Soetoro and his family wouldn't be so easy to acquire and secure, and for this, the visitors would need the assistance and cooperation of the Indonesian government.

I might add that a name change is always a matter of public record. It involves a civil suit and has to be public record, with prior names being recorded also.

Mrs. Repeal and I adopted two children as infants.
Their original birth certificates are sealed for privacy of the birth mother.
We nor they have any legal access to them.
Amended birth certificates were issued at the time of the adoption
that show them to be our children.
It is a long legal process with lots of paperwork.
