I hope I don’t smell another bailout coming. Has anyone come up with a drink called the BAILOUT yet? Might be a good time for one.

“and they can’t even spell “bankruptcy” correctly.”

Aw Geesh, what do you want, it’s only a newspaper. They aren’t expected to know how to spell these days./sarc

I agree. The L.A. Times is nothing more than a shill for the Democratic Party. They have only themselves to blame for the decline in circulation and revenues. Nobody wants to pay good money for what amounts to a political advertisement for socialism.

and they can’t even spell “bankruptcy” correctly.

I had to go to the link. Yep. Somebody didn't even bother to use spell check.

Cities thrive when there are competing newspapers.

Same thing in Dallas. It used to have the moderate Morning News and the leftist Times Herald. When the Times Herald ran into the ground, the Morning News switched to a decidedly leftist slant, and has been in sharp decline ever since.

Of course, current management is too stupid to figure out the equation that leftist bias = declining circulation. They couldn't even make a go of a daily giveaway to commuters. They switched it to weekly, apparently forgetting that their weekly giveaway failed several years ago. (Did I mention that management was stupid? )

You're right Dr. E but times are a-changin’. With e-phones cropping up, soon papers will be passe’. Why does someone need a printed copy when they can get the information from their Blackberry? In some way it's like digital music and video; I don't think people have fully grasp how this will all turn out but this age will very likely be know as the Information Revolution much like the Industrial Revolution.

Regrettably, there is something solid about a paper or a hard bound book that you can't get off of a Blackberry which is obsolete in 3-4 years. Just ask me. On my wife side of the closet is a bunch of old newspapers that we still can read. On my side is a bunch of old computer equipment that makes great boat anchors.

Great idea! Think of all the print archives they have that can be recycled!

"Has anyone come up with a drink called the BAILOUT yet? Might be a good time for one."

Good idea! Think T-shirt slogans:
BAILOUTS! WHERE'S MINE?
BAILOUTS! NEED BAIL MONEY.
BAILOUTS! GOT MONEY?
BAILOUT! GOT A BILLION MISTER?
BAILOUT! NEED NEW JET.
BAILOUT! I LOST MY GOLDEN PARACHUTE.
BAILOUT! WILL WORK FOR CONGRESS.
BAILOUT! WILL WORK FOR FREE MONEY.
BAILOUT! MY MORTGAGE IS DUE.
BAILOUT! MY SUV IS WORTHLESS.

Got more ideas? I will share my T-shirt profits with you.
