Palin got $30K more in clothes
Politico ^ | 04 Dec 2008 | Kenneth P. Vogel

The Republican National Committee will report Thursday that it spent about another $30,000 on clothes and accessories for Sarah Palin during her vice presidential bid, a GOP source tells Politico.

Palin took a major public relations hit when Politico revealed that the RNC in September shelled out $150,000 for clothes and accessories from high-end retailers for the Alaska governor, who built her political persona around a folksy, regular-gal demeanor.

The additional spending will be detailed on the committee's post-general election report, which is due to be filed with the Federal Election Commission before midnight.

The Honorable Patrick Kennedy (RAT-RI) spent a similar sum on cocaine and Ambien.

Nah, hookers.

You think there’s a chance to push through a Constitutional amendment that says that if a Marxist dickhead gets elected, the term is only two years?

I want a total list spent by the Obama campaign on Obama’s and Michelle’s clothing.

Both campaigns have already filed their expenditure reports; that's where the media got the info on Palin's $150K (and now +30K) in the first place. Apparently there wasn't any corresponding campaign money for fancy duds on the other side.

"The Republican National Committee will report Thursday that it spent about another $30,000 on clothes"

Damned shame! I for one wouldn't have been disappointed for her to show up with less clothes.

The dissonance between a “hockey mom” image and a $150K wardrobe is pretty glaring, regardless of a voter’s gender. That’s what’s ultimately driving the story.

There is this: his medical record released is very sparse; for all we know he has lung cancer or sickel cell anemia, who knows? We should accomodate our new President Elect and send cigarettes.

I don’t the fault the RNC for buying clothes for Sarah or Sarah for wearing them. She returned them all-end of story. What to me is unsettling is that Mike Duncan of the RNC has to my knowledge never come out and spoken on behalf of Sarah and tell the MSM in no uncertain terms that their claim that Sarah bought these clothes herself was BOGUS and that Sarah never did anything wrong. That is one of the main reasons that Duncan should not return as RNC.

at least gov Palin looks GOOD when all is said and done. she helped remind me that all American women don’t have to look like skanks from haite-ashbury

Sarah has brought femininity back to America (thank you, Lord)

uh....if you look at pictures of her in her own clothes prior to be tapped by McCain, you can definitely see where she IS the average “hockey mom.” as she’s said before, the image consultants were in place and the clothes bought before she got to the convention. It was the RNC’s call as to how they wanted her styled (I have heard that it was actually Cindy McCain who was appalled at Palin’s lack of style—especially since she’d be standing on stage next to her, representing her husband’s ticket). Clearly, they made a bad call. They could’ve bought her new clothes without going the designer route. Gee....I wonder who wears designer clothes on that team? Three guesses and the first two don’t count.

I thought the money was spent on clothing for the whole family, including warm coats.

I wish the “news” hounds had been half as interested in all the money being spent on Obama’s family and campaign... especially the sources. But, there are a lot of interesting things about the Obama’s that have been ignored by the drive-bys.

I'm so glad that politico doesn't have much of a future as a blog..that is my opinion but i think its a valid one.

I think people underestimate the damage they did to Palin.

Yeah, reading between the lines I think much of the blame for being clueless about how a campaign-financed $150K wardrobe would look goes back to Cindy.
