Great news, glad to hear it.
So now the Democrats are stuck at 58 senators, and need 60 to have the filibuster proof Senate. So now in Minnesota, will they back off Al Franken wanting to go to court and all that to continue the endless recount there? You figure even if Franken prevailed, then the Dems. will have only 59. Just a thought as to how far the Dems. will try to go.
besides do they reallly want al franken to make a joke out of the senate?
I don’t know...but 58 is scary enough. 59...is one too many...especially with Al.
One of the people counted among the Democrats is Joe Lieberman, who is an independent, especially on the war on terror and foreign affairs and Israel. So, there will be times when the Democrats will not be able to count on 58 voters in block a filibuster.
McCain plus Grahamnesty = filibuster proof Senate re: Immigration “reform.”
I don’t see that Franken can get any help from his Senate friends now. Even if the Senate decided it had to try to pick the Senator in Minnesota, it seems to me they would be fillibustered. Even the RHINOS wouldn’t vote against expanding their own party.
Don’t think that there are some Blue Dog Dems from the South that won’t go along with the Obama/Pelosi/Reid plan.
IMHO, even if they had 60 in the Chambers it wasn’t a guarantee that they could filibuster a number of items on the Dem liberal agenda.
58 is enough with rinos like snowe, collins and martinez around. Expect terribly liberal scotus replacements.
re: ‘fillibuster proof Senate’
Maybe they will change the rules back to where you actually have to be there and filibuster, to stall activity on EVERYTHING.
Can’t do a Mr Smith goes to Washington anymore.... the people are silenced.
Even if the dems had 60, it’s possible blue dog dems would not always vote with the lib dems.
Not to worry, WE have r.i.n.o. squishies who will join them. /s
