re: ‘fillibuster proof Senate’

Maybe they will change the rules back to where you actually have to be there and filibuster, to stall activity on EVERYTHING.

Can’t do a Mr Smith goes to Washington anymore.... the people are silenced.

Even if the dems had 60, it’s possible blue dog dems would not always vote with the lib dems.

One can hope, Jeff, but Collins, Snowe, Hagel, and Specter don’t give me much reason to hope.

Collins is pissed because dems tried to defeat her. Maybe she'll wake up now.

More likely, though, that pinkish-red RINOS will vote with the Dems.

The Senate is always more liberal. I don’t think it is THAT bad though.

With a Dem president, it should be easier to get even some of the squishy Republicans to side with the GOP, though not the most extreme.

Even if the Dems only were up only one, anybody who expected nothing but terrible SCOTUS replacements would be dreaming.

With a Dem president, we are assured of that, and there is no way we could put enough pressure to have decent nominees for the SCOTUS. Impossible.

It would be very difficult, even with a GOP majority!

Don’t expect it with health care or the war or the bailouts or on taxes or on abortion or on judges on on illegals or on gay marriage.

Which covers just about everything important to me.

Snowe, Collins, and Hagel make it CERTAIN that we WILL get socialized health care.

FWIW, I think that the clinton people that will populate the 0 executive branch love power so much they will see the economic mess we are in and scale back their plans. If not we are facing a time where hyper inflation will occur.

I think you are spot on about the judiciary being filled with radicals as well as the SCOTUS.

As the country becomes more polarized the days of a blue state Pub senator are coming to an end. The core of the Pubs is becoming more conservative and less inclined to compromise with radicals.

Nah, that was much closer and apparently Minnesota has a lot of weird lefty voters.

My brother, a life-long MN resident, says his in-laws state they would vote for a monkey before pulling a GOP lever. The state of MN deserves to have a tax cheating pornographer as their Senator.

The Devil went down to Georgia, and Saxby kicked his butt right back where he came from.

Good win! Thanks to everyone who walked, phoned, gave money, and support to the campaign. A good day.

Why!? I mean, I understand the desire not to vote GOP...but why vote dem?

Why is MN so pro-dem...it just doesn’t seem like it it’s that way.

I’ve been there a few times.

Why!? I mean, I understand the desire not to vote GOP...but why vote dem?

His entire neighborhood votes dem - he tries to reason with the retired school teach across the street and there is no way the guy (intelligent enough to be a union member teacher) can understand anything my brother says when it deals with facts and/or conservatism. He is one of the cult members believing this is "The Messiah" and Bush was Hitler. The state has most always voted DEM since I can remember, Wellstone, Humphrey, Mondale, et.al. Farmers and unions are big up there and they really are a socialist state. The urban areas (just like the west and east coasts) rule the roost for the Dems. Although being born there and leaving at age 20, I cannot even guess why it is so liberal - why is any state near ocean water so liberal?
