Drama Queen? How about something a little more substantive from you than South Park and CCCP flags? Is that really too much to expect?

Let’s review...

You badmouth Conservatives like Harper, who are well-respected by actual Conservatives.

You reveal yourself a Social liberal (the Fis Con is bullcrap) and parrot rhetorical lines more appropriate for Dion or Layton.

You lament the death of a flawed and hypocritical liberal party, the PC.

You denigrate other FReepers who take issue with your schtick.

You whine when exposed as a troll and play the role of victim.

You’ve got nothing to offer here, comrade. You spew the same liberal schtick we see South of the border day in and day out. You leftists all act the same way wherever you live. I think if you had a shred of intellectual dignity you’d publicly declare yourself an official member of the NDP or Liberals. Then you’d at least proceed from a position of honesty.

Duccppe is by all accounts a master pol, I’m not surprised to see he can can speak English well. If his party dropped it’s raison d’être and was just a social democrat party they and he would get more votes than the other left parties.

It’s a total joke (and I think unprecedented) that Dion can barley speak English. They couldn’t have picked a poorer leader, the man is a clown. An airhead (or methanehead). A bantamweight. Until now he was going to be only the second Liberal leader to never be PM. It’s a big mistake by them to let him lead the coalition.

Layton http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7bkaMAyZAM&NR=1 seems to have an inflated sense of his own importance. His kook party would bring ruin if it were in charge and I think even most Canucks know that.

The leader of the Greens (zero seats, nearly 7% of the vote thank you) is a dumb b*tch. She lost her race against a Tory minister (the liberals dropped out to help her). She said “If the kids five years [and] up coulda voted, I would have won by a landslide.” In the West they actually run to the right of the Liberals and NPD.

As to the French Province, the federalist voters are not gonna like relying on the separatists for a coalition. It should give Tories a boost there. Anglophones in the Montreal area should be a target group for them if it’s not already, they vote strongly liberal.

The Tories support more provincial power, if they cared about their prime directive you’d the Bloc would rather deal with them but I guess not. If they are really working toward their goal maybe destabilizing the country in such a manner is part of the plan. This has already hurt their economy.

But I’d say let them go, just as I’d let New England go from US. Let Ducceppe be PM of Independent Quebec. It’s a leftwing drag on Canada and the Tories have a majority in parliament without it. I don’t know why most of Canada wants them to stay so much.

If Canada goes crappy I hope a real movement starts to have Alberta join US. They’d vote Republican, but not heavily so. Kinda like Montana maybe.

Of course their population would swiftly double if it looked like they were going to become a state.

Really?

They seem like the most left-leaning province to me.

A blunder over a stupid niche issue of Quebec arts funding is what cost Harper a majority.

I don’t know who’s opinion you’re talking about.

10 of 10 Freepers would love to swap our rats for your Tories. Our rats talk a lot of BS to hide their well left of center fiscal and social agenda. The Red Tories/old PCers are pretty in line with non moonbat Democrats/Old Rockefeller RINOS. Most Tories aren’t in that camp. No national Democrat leader is close to what the Tory median of conservatism would be today.

So given what you think about, how do you feel about US Republican versus Dems? Do you prefer the Democrats?

I think it’s readily apparent to all in this thread that you are a troll.

After reading every post to this point of what's been a fascinating and educating thread thanks to you and a few others, and decidedly not to the very shrill, thin skinned, aggressively leftist "volunteer", I can say with confidence that his boorish attitude would be far more appreciated by most here were he to place it firmly in between his cheeks, and smuggle it back out of the country.

Great thread. I'll catch up later, getting late/early.

RE: I fear that a fresh and belligerent strain of Western Separatism will blossom, and perhaps irrevocably divide our Dominion...

It seems that the Bloc is in an excellent position, handed to them by Dion, who also gave Canada The Clarity Act. That law could take Alberta out. Especially if this troika were to gain power and attack the West. Again. They are giving Westerners the middle finger, just like Trudeau did. Dions’ The Green Shift, ie., the Green Shaft, could have the rigs lining up to leave Alberta, just like Trudeaus’ NEP did.

If PM Harper wins this one, he might just kill all four of them (including Lizzie May) with one blow. He must be sick of playing whack-a-mole with these clowns.

Dion is a goner after the last election. His performance reminded me of Beaker singing Feelings. Now he is going to seize power? Sheesh. Doubtful but would he have done this without a go ahead nod from the GG? Libs could be finished as a political party if another election is called now.

After my initial alarm, I now see that the Lord has delivered Harper’s enemies into his hands.

Decent Libs and NDPers simply cannot stomach this shameful deal with the devil.

Have you seen this?

Service and country
In a message to two members of Parliament - one Conservative and one Liberal - a retired Vice-Admiral has written (posted with permission):

Gentlemen,

As you both may be aware I contributed financially towards your recent re-election - not because of your Party affiliations but because I know and respect both of you.

Regretfully, I am too old now to serve Canada in any political capacity. However, I did serve faithfully for 38 years in the RCN and the Canadian Armed Forces - including in NDHQ, as a Rear Admiral and Vice Admiral, where I had the honour to serve both under Liberal and Conservative Ministers of National Defence. In every instance they received my complete respect and loyalty regardless of Party.

My father also served in Canada’s Navy for 37 years from 1909 to 1946. He commanded several RCN ships and both coasts, and was ultimately the Commanding Officer Pacific Coast during the last three years of World War II.

His father was Speaker of the House of Commons, during the Laurier Government, then was Minister of Inland Revenue, then Minister of Marine and Fisheries (in which capacity he became the founding Minister of the Royal Canadian Navy), then served as Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, and ultimately died in office as Lieutenant Governor of Quebec. He devoted his entire life to Canada.

On behalf of three generations who have devoted their lives to Canada, I unequivocally condemn the power grabbing political charade now taking place in Parliament.

We are witnessing a deplorable and juvenile scene which demeans its participants, and also further erodes the residual prestige of a Canada which in both World Wars achieved greatness and international respect. Politicians and their sycophants delude themselves into believing that Canada has influence and prestige in the modern world. Compared to the Canadian international influence and prestige I witnessed in the 1950’s we have become moralizing nonentities who are recognizably no longer even capable of constructing our own warships, submarines and military aircraft; and will soon become totally dependent on other nations for even our means of defence.

When a terrorist crisis hits Canada - and someday it undoubtedly will - the politicians will scurry about seeking who to blame for lack of capability or preparedness. I can save them the trouble - look in the mirror! Make it a long look if you come from the NDP - the political party which has consistently opposed defence spending over the past three decades!

So this obviously dysfunctional consortia is about to approach the Governor General seeking her concurrence to form the next government? Ask yourselves how Her Excellency will be able to reconcile the fact that Canadian soldiers, of whom she is the Commander-in-Chief, are fighting, and dying for Canada in Afghanistan; while Canadian politicians are obsessed with power grabbing. Our military are not stupid - how long can they be expected to put their lives on the line under those circumstances?

There was a stunning contrast yesterday between the statesmanship displayed by President-Elect Obama with his National Security Team and the complete lack of statesmanship in Canada’s Parliament. A great many Canadians will have noted that contrast and be disgusted with Canada’s politicians.

I realize that you are only two Members of Parliament among many. I can only hope that my words and my respect for you may assist you in bringing your colleagues to their senses.

IMHO, the GG will accept Harper’s proposal for prorogation.

That’s if he doesn’t call their all-in bluff Monday morning instead. ;^)

God save the Queen, and confusion to her enemies!

Good letter. He nails it.

RE: IMHO, the GG will accept Harper’s proposal for prorogation.

Not sure what that means. What would happen then?

The most straightforward response by the GG would be to accept Harper’s supposed proposal to adjourn the House until late January, when the Government would present a Throne speech and a budget.

Should she choose otherwise, she treads on slippery unstable ground, and presumes an authority she has not earned and does not possess.

I’m praying that sanity will return to enough Liberals and Dippers to abort this political monster.

I’ll chip in for a silver stake to drive through it’s evil heart.

The possibility of seizing power seems to have driven Dion and Layton mad. They are oh so close but Harper may have forced them to enact their plan much sooner than they had planned. Wonder if Ignatieff would cross if this all unravels on the Lib/Dips. Would PM Harper want him?

I believe Iggy will hold himself back from being a player(cabinet or otherwise) in the Obscene Cabal, so as to keep his robes spotless for the Liberal leadership race.

Bourque Newswatch

DEPUTY-PRIME MINISTER LAYTON
It's the stuff that political dreams, and nightmares, are made of. A hopeless duo of political leaders recently cast aside by the electorate, contemplating their wounds in silence, when suddenly divine providence hints at potential salvation. Or was it Eve extending her delicately inviting hand, proffering a bright shiny apple on a bed of fleur-de-lys. Bourque has learned the price of collusion for Ndp Leader Jack Layton. Sources close to Stephane Dion are confirming to Bourque that Layton will likely become Deputy-Prime Minister in a Liberal-led coalition government where the NDP will get 25% of cabinet seats, most of them relating to social issues key to the party's recent electoral platform. Meanwhile, we learn that Layton is in a deep tizzy over whether or not he deserves ‘equal time’ on national tv tonight to, er, address the nation alongside the Prime Minister and the Leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition. Developing.

Bourque has many sources feeding him information, so it’s interesting to check once in a while.

If Harper can prorogue Parliament, it gives us until January, and they may implode by then. We can hope.
