As bad as anthrax is, that amount of decontamination was overkill IMO.
FYI. Last month the heads of Federal Agencies in the Northeast had a meeting where the main topic of the presentation was responding to an anthrax attack.
Now that would be a very serious problem

I was at a conference at the Pentagon in 2000 where an expert said that one day terrorist would be able to develop bioweapons that target particular races or people.
So one day the Prime Minister of Japan or President of Bolivia could come down with a mysterious illness and die, and people will think it is the flu.
Also, a white supremest could invent a bioweapon that could threaten non-whites.
This is a difficult problem because major countries can tailor make biological weapons. The Russians have been doing that for a long time, and I imagine China and other countries are also doing that sort of research.
And Putin hasn’t shown much hesitation about providing dangerous weaponry to countries like Iran.
The FBI has proved to be totally hopeless at dealing with threats like the anthrax mailings.
I don’t see the word “Google” anywhere in the article, but I suspect that just as Google seems to be capable of detecting outbreaks of flu before anyone else, they might also be ahead of the game on subtle terror attacks. They’re certainly a good deal more competent than the FBI.
The real problem here is a failure to recognize where the "most likely threat" originates ~ as Barbara Hatch Rosenberg should have taught us, as she maneuvered, lied, manipulated, and harrumped her way through hearing after hearing, just look to the people she was protecting by misleading the FBI into various and sundry middle aged white scientists.
Today that same crowd she protected is in charge of the government.
Not likely we'll see any bio attacks while they're in power, but give'em 6 to 8 months out of power, and they'll be back at it.

COMPLETELY STUPID! Why not just vaccinate people bit by bit over the years? Why wait for an attack, and have a stampede?
THERE’S A REASON! Hillary Clinton arranged the laws so that vaccine makers are much more easily sued, you see?
So if in a non-emergency situation any vaccine makes aaaaaanyone sick, then that’s a guananteed lawsuit —probably thousands.
But if there’s a DIRE EMERGENCY, then a whole new set of rules kicks into place, kind of like for the military.....

Remember years back —was probably 2004— Chiron (or at least the branches in the UK) had huuuuge stockpiles of the flu vaccine that were contaminated? Remember? And allll kinds of old people couldn’t get the vaccine, cuz there were no US makers?
Yep! Cuz in the UK, you could not be sued, see? But in the US, you could. And the biz would not be profitable.
So this competely more exotic anti-Anthrax vaccine stuff in a non-emergency situation is a total non-starter, here in the USA, where Biotech central is.

I dont think anthrax lives that long when exposed above ground.
That tech has been spoken of —customized medication is talked about heavily— but I’m unaware of any company that can now do that; to make a medication (or weapon) capable of targeting a solitary individual.
