Many will the GOP will try to tap this constituency be promising more government. Instead, the GOP should tap into that massive pool of voters who don't vote because they are resigned to the fact that politicians only cater to the "new electorate".

And that, in a nutshell, is why Sara Palin HAD to be destroyed, and turned in to a cartoon character. She appealled to that Demographic in a big way, and it scared the hell out of the Dems.

The DEMS (And Saturday Night Live, The New York Times, Etc.) had her pigeon-holed as an idiot before the McCain Campaign even began promoting her in earnest.

The author (or survey) is off in concluding that the single women voted on abortion- I don't think so. They vote on government-and what government will give them. That's why Gov. Palin, who is quinessentially self reliant, did not appeal to them.

The GOP cannot get into a bidding war for their support-the GOP must offset the vote from another source. That is, if the GOP's desire is governance and not election---a big if.
