WASHINGTON: The United States military since 2004 has used broad, secret authority to carry out nearly a dozen previously undisclosed attacks against Al Qaeda and other militants in Syria, Pakistan and elsewhere, according to senior American officials.
These military raids, typically carried out by Special Operations forces, were authorized by a classified order that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld signed in the spring of 2004 with the approval of President George W. Bush, the officials said. The secret order gave the military new authority to attack the Qaeda terrorist network anywhere in the world, and a more sweeping mandate to conduct operations in countries not at war with the United States.

OFF TOPIC...
I read somewhere that Obama got his first security/intel briefing.
Let me see if I can find a link to that.
Sounds like a great idea to me. What’s the NYT’s beef?
Wherever the terrorists are we should attack them. Gives them a little less chance to plan their next attack when they are on the defensive.

“President-Elect Obama’s First CIA Briefing”
By Ishmael Jones
SNIPPET: “On November 6th, 2008 President-Elect Obama sat through his first detailed CIA briefing.”
The first intel briefing and already the NY Times has told the world our former secrets. Maybe Oprama can just have the CIA/NSA send Al Qeada and our enemies an early morning briefing each day. They can cc the NY Slimes.
Well, there could be a simpler answer Frantzie.
Maybe the NYT’s is psychic.
Only God and my husband knows the answer to that one.
Actually I think the date of this order was more like Sept. 12, 2001.
Did Obama leak this? When was his briefing?
ping
Most of the Obama leaks will pose an exceptionally grave danger to our country, but this one is harmless. I think Al Qaeda has already figured out that we’re attacking them regardless of where they hide. They’re evil but not stupid, unlike the Affirmative Action President, who is both evil and stupid.
This is the kind of change I can believe in
I expect nothing less from B. Hussein Obama.
