MOSCOW, Nov 4: Barack Obama is the “American Gorbachev” who will ultimately destroy the United States, militant Russian nationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky said on Tuesday.
Credited in the West for leading the former Soviet Union away from Cold War confrontation, Mikhail Gorbachev, now 77, is vilified by many at home for presiding over the collapse of the Soviet Union and ushering in harsh economic reforms.
“Obama, he is the American Gorbachev, he will destroy America, it will not be rebuilt,” Zhirinovsky said at a meeting of the ultra-nationalist party he founded, according to Russian news agency Interfax.
Zhirinovsky, a 62-year old populist, was one of the best-known challengers to Dmitry Medvedev in last March’s Russian presidential poll.
Zhirinovsky is popular among Russians for his brash, often comical style as he attacks foreigners and Communists.
His Liberal Democratic Party came a distant third in parliamentary elections this year which saw the United Russia party of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin score a landslide victory.—AFP
To believe this non-sense, you have to first believe the liberal argument - that it was not Reagan, but Gorbachev that brought down the Iron Curtain.
Since I don’t agree with that argument, I would chalk this one up to mercury boiling over on the kook meter.

Unfortunately, Mr. Zhirinovsky could be correct. With the Democrats holding the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives, and with Nancy Pelosi and the Kenyan Clown running the legislative and executive branches, this could be a ride unlike any other than that we have been on.
America is a lot tougher than Russia, Vlad. Presidents come, presidents go. In Russia you seem to have the same oligarchy in charge regardless the official form your government takes. In short, we sometimes engage in political risk-taking (like last night), but you guys can’t seem to learn from your mistakes.

In all fairness the mere mention of Zhirinovsky’s running as a Democratic party in Russia would have been a death sentence in decades past. The Russian people have rebuilt much and yes Vlad Putin is still KGB. America was duped by globalization visions of grandeur like most empires in history. We’ll receed, put up with massive government waste and corruption for four more years on top of the massive government waste and corruption the last four years and then begin growing again. In the meantime, we’ll attempt to take care of one another while the government attempts to ram that concept up our behind’s the painful and innafective way. A shame many of us will have to wonder what color *hit we took today to stay out of legal trouble.
Yes, but not like this one. Which of our presidents has equalled the likes of Obama? Care to hazard a guess? Remember, Obama had the most leftist voting record in the Senate. And how many of our presidents had bombers as friends? Which president had virtually no experience or accomplishments?
This guy is dangerously unique, and we are going to pay a very heavy price for electing him. His "legacy" may well be devastating.

Middle east terrorists have successfully duped americans into electing their choice. They have divided the populace, manipulated the press, cultivated the ignorance of voters to their favor and put their chosen Hussein in office again.
Awwwww. Obambi bought the mess created by past Presidents and now HE is the one we’ll blame for everything that doesn’t go the way “we” think it should.
If NancyFancy couldn’t do anything much in the last session of Congress, don’t believe she can do anything with this one, either. SHE is divisive. (I even emailed her and told her that.) What she does is to make even her own Party members upset with her. And Congresspeople are PETTY people. If it weren’t so, we would never have PORK in our budgets and bills.
It’s never about the Nation, our Country, or We the People. It’s always about “them.” There are few Statesmen left in Congress and some are hiding their qualities quite deeply.
We know all of Obambi’s promises, so all we have to do is write our letters to the editor and to our Congresscritters reminding that “he promised” and he reneged.

The Russian believe that Gorbachev screwed the country, and for that they despise him.

Carter for sure. Obama's ideas are pretty much a reflection of Jimmy's world-view. Jimmy Carter also doesn't mind consorting with the seediest of the world's dictators & thugs -- providing them with aid & comfort (like certifiying their elections). Carter & Obama are definitely in the same class. The only difference is that Carter blind-sided us; we knew about Obama beforehand.

Trouble is, Dmitry Medvedev doesn’t care for Barry either.
