I didn't hear it, but my mother just said all lawsuits were dismissed. Anyone else hear Garrett's comments?
Well, as much as I hate to admit, it has little to do with faith in the laws anymore ... my trust in government and the system has frayed beyond possible repair. What I do have is the strong notion that politics is so dirty and hardcore these days that if Obama could have been exposed, certainly it would have happened. Bill and Hillary Clinton have more political and personal connections than any of us imagine. If something as basic as citizenship was a real issue, you can bet your bottom dollar that the truth would have exposed by now.
Also, if you take all of the emotion and basic political philosphy out of the equation and look at this objectively ... both Barack and Michelle Obama are highly educated lawyers and fully aware of the playing field.
If there was an issue as bold as citizenship out there to be discovered, do you really think that they are ignorant and/or stupid enough to put their entire political/business/social lives (not to mention that of their children) on the line based on a lie?
It is great internet chat and speculation to think that just two weeks out from the election of his life, that Obama was scrambling to Hawaii to make sure his secret didn't come out. It doesn't really make sense unless you get ridiculously out of the realm of possibilities.
"Voter registration, immigration status, citizenship ... in light of this, if one were to be of a mind to undermine the United States, its a logical step to test requirements for political leadership."
That is an interesting point and worthy of further pondering.
That should have read “realm of reasonable possibilities”.
From what I've read when this first came up, the only remedy is for the Electors not to vote for him. They don't have to bring a suit. And BTW, these types of cases have been brought before and the ones I've seen have all been dismissed for lack of standing. I really think that it's a separation of powers issue.
Actually, it would have been up to the Democrats to vet him.
That is ridiculous. The Supreme Court in 2000 ruled that Gore could not cherry pick 4 counties for recount. I am so sick of the SC “put Bush in office”. Gore could have recounted all of Florida but that would still have lost him the election!
My point was, if you looked at what I was commenting on in post #2, the SCOTUS actually intervened. Which hopefully they would do in this possible case of breaching the Constitution.
