Polling outfits like Rassmusen outsource their calling operation. I worked as a software developer for a predictive dialer company which wrote software for call centers. My software did dialing for both Dem and Repub candidates in 2000 and 2004. The call centers and the companies they use are located in 3 places, Canada, urban areas and India. Well India is off the table for political polling and so that leaves Canada and the US. Canadian call centers have closed in droves so that leaves the US. I am going to stereotype, cause folks I have been there witnessed it for myself, but call centers are primarily staffed in the US by you guessed it African Americans. Hmm wonder what begins to happen 2-3 hours into a shift with an Obama supporting 9 dollar per hour flunky. So if your data gathering folks are corrupt and biased what do you get? Also who you poll is important. Dialers can query on a number of levels and filter criteria, household income, zip code, race, etc. So garbage in , garbage out?
