Firearm Sales Surge on Gun Control Fears

EUGENE, Ore. -- National polls continue to show Barack Obama leading John McCain -- and those numbers are affecting gun sales.

One south Eugene gun shop manager said business is booming for guns and ammunition. He feels the reason why is out of fear of Congress enacting tougher gun controls.

"I think it's pretty well going to happen if Obama is elected president. There's no question," said Baron's Den and Shooting Range Manager Raye Gunter.

Gunter said he's seen a rise in sales of military-style rifles, concealed carry guns and signups for shooting classes.

"People are buying stuff they feel are going to be banned after he takes office-- if he takes office. It's also being fueled not only by politics but by the cutbacks in law enforcement locally," said Gunter.

Obama on guns

"I believe in the Second Amendment. I believe in people's lawful right to bare arms," said Obama

Last month, Obama reassured voters in Virginia that he would not take away your constitutional right. But many people just don't believe him, and the National Rifle Association claims it's just rhetoric."I'm in the market for a shotgun, just for home defense, so you know, I've got it if I absolutely had to pull it out," said northern Nevada resident Guy Gordon.

The Vietnam veteran and undecided voter is looking towards protection -- and restriction.

"I can see banning maybe assault weapons and things," said Gordon.

There’s no question this is happening.
Happened before Clinton’s election too.
Drives the prices up but that’s capitalism.
Can’t remember who said it....
“the 2nd ammendment is America’s reset button”
Alot of concerned folks out there.

I think there's a greater chance of violence if Obama loses the election.

All I have to say is, thank God for the Second Amendment.

I wasn't in the market for a new gun but figured that I better get one (one that I wanted but couldn't justify the cost) before (God Forbid) Nobama got elected and I could no longer do it.

I must say that I even broke my bank account in order to get it!

I also got copious amounts of ammo to go with it.

I pick up my little beauty tomorrow.....

When our guns are taken away, Obama smiles and says "I said bare arms, not bear arms"

Obama and a dem congress will bring about a new AWB and then start on “reasonable restrictions.” Take this to the bank.

Two weeks ago, our county Sheriff was speaking at the Board of Supervisors meeting. He happened to remark that applications for concealed handgun permits were up dramatically in the county and also in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

I ran into him a couple of days later at lunch and asked him how much. He said that there are already 30% more applications than last year and there still a little over two months to go. He didn't know any Commonwealth numbers. I think Virginians are getting prepared for something.

You may want to purchase a good reloading kit.

And some smokeless powder.

Are you in Lowdown County? There seems to be something on the wind, can’t put my finger on it, just a feeling of unease.

Kim Quintero, you ignorant bitch. He THINKS that the boom in sales is out of fear of Congress. And he’s right.

My soon to be ex wife has taken all the handguns (hers) leaving me with just the Ruger 10/22. I am thinking seriously about getting both a Remington 870 shotgun and a Ruger SP 101 for home defense and WTSHTF needs. I also might look into an inexpensive Mauser from Big 5 but ideally I would prefer a spanking new Springfield M1A.

Ammo may be the currency of the future if the SHTF.

Well, I for one am selling off all my guns and ammo to random internet users and local rednecks whose names I failed to get. I may keep my dads 28ga. so they can have that one when time comes to turn in all arms.
Did you know that ammo lasts almost as long as Spam?
