Republican John McCain's bid to become the next president of the United States has won the support of Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry.
The guitarist told the Boston Herald that he thought Mr McCain was better suited to solving threats to America's national security and its economic problems than rival Barack Obama.
He also said he believed Mr McCain could still overhaul Mr Obama's lead in the polls.
Im an optimist. It aint over till its over. I think that hes got a chance, he said.
Perry's endorsement has come as a surprise, and goes against Aerosmith's usually non-political stance.

Is there anyone with some talent supporting McCain?
I always thought Alice Cooper was from Arizona too.
Good for all of these guys.
Chuck Norris, Perry, Cooper and Nugent endorse McCain....Chavez...Fidel Castro, the PLO, most of Hollywood’s lefties, most of the music worlds lefties (even has beens) all favor Obama. Now what does that tell you?
me too! seen em thrice in concert. (i’m only 23 years old, cuz me some slack!)

Right. Tyler moved from the Bronx to Sunnapee NH. I was thinking it was Joe.
He’s got a Yankee accent either way.
ah, gotcha!
learn something new everyday...thanks!
i remember 4 years ago, when Kerry said he wanted Aerosmith to play at his inauguration, and Steven Tyler said they’d play if they were in town. then drummer Joey Kramer said that Tyler hadnt consulted the rest of the band and they’d do no such thing.
sounds to me like more members of Aerosmith are conservative than we’d thought...that says a lot about a band coming out of Boston...
Fat Joe isn’t a McCain supporter...

A crazy amount.
I had also forgotten that Evanescence started out as a Christian band. My girlfriend won a major karaoke contest singing “Bring Me to Life” a few months back. She does the song as well as Amy Lee I’d say; her voice is perfect. She also sings at church every week sometimes as part of or in lieu of the sermon. This could lead to an interest set of songs one Sunday. :D
Lucky youngster! LOL
That’s 2 times more than i’ve seen them!
Yep, they started where I am (here in Little Rock). They kind of distanced themselves fromt the Christian tag after they made it. They’re OK, but I just like em’ for the pudgy brunette angle...;)
Thanks for the link. I’m glad you posted it. I should’ve known better. John, for the most part,is just not rapper material,I guess!
Doing some digging, her husband Josh Hartzler is a therapist with a Christian youth counseling organization in NY. Here is her charity she is spending a lot of time working on now.

Cool, I’m not far from you, I actually have an office there I go to about once a month. I’ve seen Evanescence twice there.. Trying to find the quote, I’m finding a lot of interesting stuff on what they are up to now. Her new husband Josh Hartzler is a therapist for a Christian organization in NYC that helps teens with mental problems and he is a youth group minister of a church.. Josh has also done some songwriting for Daughtry and others.. I know, none of this is relevant to the topic, just thought it was cool... they are staying busy doing good.
Don’t forget Kid Rock and Sammy Hagar.
Hilary Duff supports McCain? I find that hard to believe.
I swear I read somewhere that Fat Joe was a McCain supporter.
