I just got an e-mail from a college friend of mine, a “common man” who makes more than $250,000 a year. His e-mail really made me think. Look:

Years ago silly liberals pushed what they called a ‘luxury tax’ that would be put on fancy cars, big boats, expensive jewelry and stuff like that... oh and how they loved it in theory...

I mean really, why should we care about someone who is buying a big yacht...that kind of silly spending...heck, they can afford the luxury so let them pay the tax, right?

George Mitchell pushed it through the senate.... oh and the liberals around cheered...let the rich pay....yippee!

All those laborers who worked at luxury car plants like Cadillac or people who work making boats for those fancy rich people could not have been more happy.... finally they will get some relief.... let the rich pay for it....

Ooooops! What happened?

The rich decided not to buy the boats, the cars or anything else considered a luxury... and then there were massive lay-offs.

The boat workers.

The people at the car plant.

Oooops.

The luxury tax was repealed.

So, when people over 250k (this is small business people etc) get the heavy hand of gov’t in their pocket they will cut back....

Who pays???
