The price of gas can go up again as quickly as it has come down. Plus, since it takes some time to get a well ready to produce, we need to start immediately to ensure our domestic self-sufficiency regardless of the price at the pump.

Price generally goes up faster than it comes down. Oil has dropped over 50% yet gasoline has only dropped 25%.

The Drill Here, Drill Now issue is dead for the moment. Pelosi managed to survive the tidal wave just like Harry Reid survived the calls for his departure over his "war is lost" comments. Energy independence is still a goal for many of us, but unfortunately the lower gas prices will make a large number of people who were for domestic drilling complacent.
