"People ought to be very skeptical of leaked (exit poll) results they might see between 5:00 pm Eastern Time (2200 GMT) and when the polls close on November 4,"

Ya think? Make that by lunch time, Eastern Time.

We all need to get the word out. The MSM favorite scheme is to suppress the vote in key western states by calling eastern states early. This tactic will be worse than ever in 2008.

I think people are more likely to lie about their votes to an exit poller than to a phone poller. These exit polls are pointless.

One problem (with polls) has been that interviewers tend to be young people, and older voters are less likely to respond to young pollsters

Good point!

What a shame they haven’t shown any concern to the months of ridiculous pre-election polls showing Obama winning men by ten points, winning Catholics by 25 points, leading by 200 electoral votes, etc.

Another article hinting that the polls are wrong and Obama may not win. Keep them coming.

"One problem (with polls) has been that interviewers tend to be young people, and older voters are less likely to respond to young pollsters -- if most of the interviewers this year are again young people, that might lead to some overstatement of the Obama vote," said Herb Weisberg, a professor of political science at Ohio State University.

Hey guys BUY A CLUE. It's not the 'young pollsters' per se. It's that OLDER voters have .... J-O-B-S. They're voting on their way to work, their lunch hour (as in 60 minutes), or on the way home and are t-i-r-e-d (see: 'work').

I've never seen a pollster but I did, and if I had the time I'd talk to them. Now would I tell them the truth ... uh, NO :-)

In 2004 I remember Bill O'Reilly being completely flummoxed over the WV exit polls that he wouldn't report anything, just that something didn't look right (It showed Kerry waaaaaaaaay ahead and everyone, like Barone, knew that was BS). The actual Vote Totals finally proved that.

My understanding is that NO exit polling can be released before the close of voting nationwide. This was put in place precisely because of what happened in 2004.

Am I wrong?

You can bet the DNC is telling everyone to vote early and find exit pollsters to dampen West Coast Repubs.

Pray for W, McCuda and Our Troops

Yeah I can picture what it will be like on CNN, MSNBC and the big 3 networks starting around noon...

“Based on exit polls, we have called Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania and North Carolina for Barack Obama.”

I’m a bit skeptical of reports like this. I regularly refer to the 2004 exit poll data regularly to debunk most of the current polls. The 2004 data is remarkably close to the actual vote totals, both nationally and state-by-state.

The problem in 2004, I think, was that some early and incomplete exit poll data was leaked early and it was more favorable to Kerry than the final results. Apparently Republicans voted later in the day than Democrats did.

But your point remains. Don’t let exit poll data stop you from voting. That’s the lesson that we should have learned from the 2000 election and apparently did heed in 2004.

Vote, PLEASE, for Palin and what’s-his-face, McCain. None of this third-party, the-Republican-Party-needs-an-Enema, McCain-is-RINO stuff.
Then go home. Don’t turn on the TV. Go to sleep. Check FR in the morning for whatever you need to know.

I mostly just hang up on pollsters; but occasionally I
will stay on the line and lie and say I am voting for Bob Barr.

People lie all the time especially in surveys and polls.

Rxit poll data is worthless and useless. It’s never accurate.

Furthermore, the thing I hate most though are those network news stations who always call states prematurely for a candidate instead of waiting for all the votes to come in [100%]. That really curdles my guts. And that’s what really happened in 2000. It wasn’t Bush’s fault. It was the damn network news assholes that called Florida way too early.
