Lampson, Olson stake claims on Political Spectrum
Houston Chronicle (Endorses both Lampson and Obama - FlA)
by Alan Berstein
October 22, 2008

Abstract: Rascally liberal Jim Hightower, the former Texas agriculture commissioner, gets credit for the phrase, "There's nothing in the middle of the road but yellow stripes and dead armadillos." Key questions in the Houston-area race between Democratic U.S. Rep. Nick Lampson and Republican former Senate aide Pete Olson are whether Lampson has earned his middle-of-the-road stripes — and whether his political career will die there Nov. 4. Lampson has tried to relieve the odd fit ever since, saying that he votes in Congress according to what he considers the wishes of his constituents, rather than any partisan agenda he may have followed as a Beaumont-based congressman from 1997 to 2005. Olson does not try to muscle Lampson out of the centrist position. Nor does he always acknowledge that Lampson is there. On some occasions Olson has tried to portray Lampson and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California as conjoined left-wing twins. Other times the challenger has said Lampson has become a moderate, but only in betrayal of his true self and his former voting record. Either way, Olson has said, the district is conservative, its congressman is not, and that needs to change. "I don't think people necessarily want someone in the middle," Olson said. "I have a fundamental set of values that people aren't going to question," he added. "Nick's values, you don't know which side of the issue he is on right now."

NICK LAMPSON: Democrat, Stafford; Age : 63
Career highlights : Teacher, Jefferson County tax assessor-collector, congressman
Education : Bachelor's and master's degrees from Lamar University. (Doesn't say what in - carpetbagging?)
PETE OLSON: Republican, Sugar Land; Age : 45
Career highlights : U.S. Navy, Pentagon staffer, U.S. Senate aide
Education : Bachelor's degree from Rice University, Law degree from University of Texas.

For a guy that claims he's a Blue Dog Democrat, Nick Lampson sure has a lot of yellow in him. - Tom "still The Hammer" DeLay, October 2008

Open Letter To TX-22 Voters From Pete Olson
October 23, 2008 5:48 pm

Note: Pete’s open letter is in response to a new TV attack ad launched by SorosBoy Lampson and his Democrats-Soros Shadow Party Klan. - FlA

Desperate politicians resort to nasty tactics to try to stay in office, and Nick Lampson is desperate. Nick Lampson has embraced the most underhanded, libelous, false charges against me - trumped up by a Washington-based Democrat attack group called the Lone Star Fund, from which he has received support and donations. They hired a firm to investigate me, my wife, and my children to find something to use against me - simply because I have the audacity to challenge Nick Lampson to be your Representative in Congress. The National Democrats and their operatives have trumped up a voter fraud charge against me, filed a spurious legal complaint based upon selective and incomplete evidence, and then turned that story into a commercial sponsored by the National Democrat Party. In the meantime, they have willfully ignored the truth.

The truth is: on August 12, 2003 - the day they allege I fraudulently voted (in Connecticut, even though I never lived there) - I was working for Senator John Cornyn, on Capitol Hill, before catching a plane to Houston on official Senate business. We have produced official Senate documents that demonstrate my whereabouts and statements from the Newtown, CT Registrar of Voters who said they could not verify I was present and voted on that day in question. But Nick Lampson and his backers at National Democrat Party continue to throw their mud - they don’t care about the truth - and that’s how they govern our country.

It’s clear what’s happening here: Nick Lampson can’t win on the issues, so he’s attacking me and looking for ways to attack my family. You can help stop all of this by going to the polls and voting to get rid of Nick Lampson and help elect me as your Representative! This weekend is the ONLY weekend for you to Early Vote. The choice is clear - more politics as usual, or a change for the truth.

Please feel free to call our office at 281.342.7383 if you need any voting information!

Very respectfully,

Pete Olson
----------------------
This is from me to you, CD-22 voter: As a resident of CD-22, I was appalled when Nick Lampson became our representative because of the mistakes made by the Republican Party. To think that my representative in Congress supported and voted for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House and Jack Murtha’s slow bleed plan for our troops is sickening and makes me physically ill. Please join me and vote early for Pete Olson. But don’t just vote - tell someone in your neighborhood about Pete! Pete will represent our district as it should be represented, with solid core conservative values. Don’t delay, vote as early as you can! Disclaimer: As do all of my posts on Lonestartimes.com, this represents my personal opinion only. - BigJolly

I have seen him occasionally, but I am sure he has been told to wait and take taskings from the McCain campaign so I don’t necessarily blame him or anyone else for that matter. The campaign has the inside scoop on where people are needed and what for.

A Dubious Ranking For Fort Bend: No. 1 In New Real Estate Foreclosures
Fort Bend Now by Bob Dunn
October 23, 2008

For a county used to being at or near the top in measures of growth and economy, here's a No. 1 Fort Bend probably doesn't want: Based on August figures, Fort Bend has the highest percentage of homes in foreclosure of any Texas county. According to RealtyTrac, which tracks home foreclosures nationally, Fort Bend County had 380 homes fall into foreclosure in August - the most recent monthly data available - meaning 1 in 369 housing units is in foreclosure here. Ellis County south of Dallas was No. 2, with 129 homes in foreclosure, or 1 in 376 housing units. No. 3 went to Bastrup County. Although it had just 65 new foreclosures in August, that equalled 1 in 378 housing units, RealyTrac reported. By comparison, Harris County had a whopping 2,957 homes sliding into foreclosure in August, however, that equated 1 in every 505 housing units.

In Fort Bend County, most of the August foreclosures occurred in Missouri City and its extrajudicial territory and Richmond and its ETJ - with 100 and 95 respectively, RealtyTrac data shows. Next was Fresno with 57, Sugar Land with 48, Rosenberg with 26, Katy with 20, Stafford with 15, Needville with 12, Fulshear with 4, and one apiece in Guy, Kendleton and Simonton. The few remaining occurred in unincorporated areas of the county.

Ironically, Fort Bend County has been cited by Realtors for months as being a bastion of housing sales strength as much of the rest of the nation suffers through a real estate recession. But the RealtyTrac figures suggest that a high sales volume can beget a high foreclosure rate. It's possible things have improved since the release of the August numbers. The Wall Street Journal quoted RealtyTrac Chief Executive James Saccacio as saying Thursday that foreclosure filings dropped 12% nationally in September from August. No detailed break-down of those numbers was available.

Texas has weathered the mortgage crunch better than most states. Florida, California and Nevada have fared much worse. At the end of 2007, the Dallas market was ranked at No. 28 by RealtyTrac in terms of highest percentage of foreclosures. Fort Worth/Arlington ranked No. 29. The Houston market, which includes Baytown and Sugar Land (but nothing else in Fort Bend County), ranked No. 39. (Houston/Harris County will get hit hard later this year and 2009, due to lag-factor. The same lag-factor happened in the last real estate collaspe during the late ‘80’s. ~ FlA)

-----------------

Hurricane Ike damaged a number of homes in Fort Bend County. Legendary ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard owns a ranch outside of Richmond and got hit hard. He wasn’t alone. On the subject of ZZ Top, bass player Dusty Hill lives in San Leon, (on Galveston Bay). His $5 million estate received serious damage from Ike, like many homes/businesses around Galveston Bay. It was great getting to know Dusty and Billy Gibbons when I was a native Houstonian. I talked with Billy many times over the years before I became a Floridian. ZZ Top can still put on a helluva concert. I was surprised at the level of damage in the Clear Lake area. Also, Ike’s devastation to Bolivar peninsula (east of Galveston Island) was unbelievable. Losing the legendary Balinese Room in Galveston really hurt. ~ FlA

Like many of us, Mitt has stayed very busy helping Republican U.S. Congress members up for re-election.

That is how Lampson won the seat in the first place, using legal tactics to get Delay out of the way!

"yeah that Romney fellow sure is awful."

Indeed, he is. Killed the MA GOP and sure loved implementing big government and helping the rodent/leftist cause (not to mention helping to UNDERMINE and badmouth Gov. Palin's VP candidacy with his paid thugs). Olson ought to know better than to call in this scumbag to help him out, as there's always a price tag for his "assistance." Surely there are many other authentic and actual NON-Socialists that could host a fundraiser for him.

Don’t you ever tire of worshipping a Socialist fraud, Bronkie (Or does the good hair and Colgate smile give him a pass to do whatever damage he cares to inflict on Conservatism and the GOP in your mind) ?

That's how 0bama ran his first campaigns. Get the competition off the ballot.

Check out HillBuzz for a run down on how he stole the dem nomination. There are MILLIONS of ticked off dems who support McCain.

I miss the Hammer! He was interviewed on F&F 4 or 5 months ago and when asked about 0bama, he stated flat out "He's a Marxist." LOL! they cut to commercial and I haven't seen him since.

Seems no one knows better, Romney is considered by establishment conservatives to be a conservative.

Not many around here pretend McCain is really a conservative but Romney, no we have his sterling word he is, it’s all good.

Keep your bullets in the chamber he will run again should the *uc*in* a*sh**e, win this November. Looks like his fan club here will give him more than perhaps 5% Freeper support he initially enjoyed while he was actually running this year.

Mittbot: “Oh I like Sarah but Mitt is more experienced (!!) and a stronger leader, she has too much baggage. He can handle the economy and Obama in a debate.”

Think twice Mittites, Romneny=Alf Landon

You seem to be a modern Diogenese. Holding up your lamp, you stumble along, looking for the perfect man. Not finding him you end up settling for the last man standing, which is one of the worst.
Because of you and those like you, we may end up getting Obama. Thanks for nothing.
