Standing room only, infield & outfield of the Walter Latham Baseball Park, on the Elon University campus, Thursday, October 16, 2008.
Miscellaneous pictures of Sarah & the crowd, shot from up to 50+ yards, with a variety of lenses:
Miscellaneous pictures of the crowd; some B&W, some color:
Some 0bamazoid freaks who were very rude, aggressive, and almost borderline violent.
This was not pleasant:
Finally, some pictures of the memorial to the Battle of Alamance, just south of the Elon University campus:
On the other hand, I've never before seen this many young people at a GOP event, so that's cause for hope.
And wow oh wow is Sarah gorgeous - thank goodness I brought my telephoto lenses.
You can bump this to the NC ping list, if you want.
Thanks for the nice post. I’m thinking the young female demographic so well represented here has got to be causing Obama some serious angst.
Obama’s supporters are so classy. I’ll bet this guy was a beaut.

That would be Benjamin Merrill. One of my sixt great grandfathers was orphaned in the Cherokee War, and was bound out to him. Merrill wasn't merely executed, he was drawn and quartered, according to some information I've encountered.
Yeah, those GOP babes and babettes are hot. Great pics.
I just saw on another post that Chevy Chase, an SNL alum, said that Sarahcuda should not have been invited to the show on sat., and couldn’t improvise her way out of a paper bag. This coming from a washed up actor who hasn’t made a decent flick in 30 years. WWWWEEEEELLLLLL.....
Check the ratings, bozo, you couldn’t draw audiences like this if your life depended on it.
Go, Sarah, and drag the old guy along with you.
Thanks for taking the time to share. Very much worth it!
What make and model of camera did you use? Did you do any cropping?
...and was it yet another sad, limp showing, proving that her star is fading, nobody likes her, and she’s the death of this ticket?

“Witnessing the aggressiveness of the 0bamazoids at this rally gave me a bad, bad feeling - as though an ugly storm is brewing.”
Lay in stores of provisions and ammunition. Make loopholes.
But then if I stare real hard, it starts to look like Merrill.
I think some moss or some mold [or some copper oxidation] must be growing in the "V"-shaped part of the "M", and that dark spot makes it look more like an "H".
Sorry about that.
Hey - what are your original sources for the Battle of Alamance?
I once read about the Regulators from a book published by some fellow who lived in Hillsborough, circa 1900, and who had written up some of the local legends and tawdry gossip about them.
Mark my word! I am now officially on record for this here at FR!
ping for later....thanks much !!
What were the Obomba people doing?
During the rally, the police had to drag some 0bamazoid people out of the baseball stadium, kicking and screaming and yelling "No Blood for Oil!" [they had at least one of them in that sort of "judo" hold where you go up with your arms beneath the guy's armpits and then clasp your hands behind the back of his neck].
And when we were leaving, there were [as in the photo] some 0bamazoids who were taking the Maximum Leader's marching orders to task and "getting in peoples' faces" and screaming at them.
Then there was one room in a dorm at Elon, up on the second or third floor, from where some 0bamazoids were blasting some rap music with 0bama lyrics.
Republicans are such nice people that I don't think they've ever spent any time thinking about how to go about dealing with this stuff.

Many of the bawdy songs and tales seem to have been inspired by Ninian Hamilton, lol. What a figure he must have cut, an aged old Scot in a kilt, wielding a saber in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other. I recall one being something about him and Fanning at the Eno, I’ll have to look for the source.
There are several good sources footnoted at the bottom of my profile page, too. My html skills were not so great when I signed up, and they’re still only so-so. Apologies for the mass of text with no graphics.
As far as the name, I’m very certain it’s Benjamin Merrill, from a settlement near Salisbury, known then as “The Jerseys.” That monument is fairly old, and the lettering is beginning to be a little indistinct in places.
Speaking of Salisbury, another good source for information on the Regulator War, and participants, would be records from the Court Of Oyer And Terminer that was held there, when Salisbury was the county seat for quite a large area, prior to Rowan being divded up into so many other counties.
Let me guess, KIDD—you’re a guy? My DH enjoyed your thread.
