Not race, my eye.

The most racist single group of people in America today are black Americans. No one dares call them on it—even when the likes of Jesse Jackson speaks of “Hymytown” or many routinely show overt bigotry toward Koreans or other Asians.

Whites are scared to death to be racist (hence much of the guilt vote among white moderates for the big 0) but blacks are the other end of the scale—they feel that since they have been discriminated against, its there due to be as racist now as they can in return...just an assumption in black culture, even up to the status of Powell.

As one person asked, “How many inexperienced white liberals has he endorsed lately?”

I have put 99% of the blame on the problems with the Iraq War on Colin Powell and his State department. Hell we could of invaded northern Iraq by Turkey if we actually had a decent Sec. of State instead of Powell and if the State Department had stayed the hell out of the running of Iraq the military would of had the war won in a year.

I knew it was pretty much useless to say so here because he had his fans on Free Republic.

Remember Republicans like Bill Bennett that were fawning over this guy hoping he’d run for president.

Who else was a big supporters?

Powell basically said that Obama will surround himself with experience people due to obamas Inexperience...

I have never seen so many people support someone based on idealistic supposition rather than facts. It is amazing. Vote for Obama based on who you want him to be rather than who he is.

Hey I made my contribution to saving the environment today. When I woke up to read the sunday edition of the LA Daily News, I see that they are now endorsing Obama. So I cancelled my subscription.

For what it’s worth, Powell’s endorsement (and vote) for Obama is so transparently racial that the effect of the endorsement is this:

If someone of Powell’s “stature” can vote on racial lines and not be called on it, then why can’t I?

Powell has unintentionally given sanction to every person to vote for the person they are closest to on genetic and cultural grounds, without shame or embarrassment.

If Powell can get up there and spout the crap he did with a straight face, everyone ought to be entitled to engage in the same sort of same sort of race-based self-justification without shame or embarrassment of any kind.

Black people didn’t need Powell for that, most are voting for Obama anyway.

If Obama was white, would Powell have voted for him, or for his friend McCain?

I rest my case.

Ah, sorry. I read your post in a hurry. I agree with you, and oddly enough someone just posted a great article explaining the same thing.
Powell’s obvious racial endorsement may hurt Obama, because it could scare undecided white voters. They might be reminded who race trumps all with a lot of black people. So, would a black President really care about ALL Americans, or just his people??

This guy's a political wind sock...nothing more. Who cares who he'll vote for?

Powell is a serious disappointment to me. I never really thought of him as a politician, per se, but more as an honorable American we could all look up to. Boy, was I wrong.

To think that a man who was once our Secretary of State could actually support a committed Marxist with zero accomplishments, and a host of alliances that would make Hitler blush, is a shock to the senses.
