Sadly, many, but by no means all, in our schools today are products of our quite weak teachers’ programs—I’m not trying to discredit all teachers in public schools, especially the “old timers”, they for the most part are great, but many of the ones I’ve seen coming out lately—couldn’t pass a real exam in a real program if they tried.
I moved on because of the sad situation in even the best of our public schools today. (I was working in both the inner city as well as in the upper middle class suburbs, and had absolutely wonderful administrators and, for the most part, still some quite good teachers.) I still very much admire those who stick with it and still do wonderful jobs.
BUT...IF, and that’s a big “if”, you can afford it, by all means, send your kids to the private/parochial schools! You’ve got one shot with the kids, and the better bet, from my perspective, is the private/parochial schools. Where no private/parochial schools suffice, then, if you have the time and energy, then by all means HOME SCHOOL!! (from a former public school teacher)
That is so true.
