Steve Corbett, a radio talk show host in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, received a copy of an internal email sent by Grant Olan who heads the Wilkes-Barre headquarters of the Obama campaign. The email went to 627 Obama campaign volunteers in the Wilkes-Barre Scranton region, saying that Obama Headquarters reported an internal poll which shows that Obama is only 2 points up in Pennsylvania.
Sean Smith, who is heading Obama's Pennsylvania campaign, was interviewed by Steve Corbett via phone at 5:35 today to discuss this. He said that Grant "went rogue", and aknowledged that Grant was "reprimanded" for this. Sean would not deny that the internal poll showed this, and his words were carefully chosen.
You never see these polls. Especially when it's been “publicly” or “accidentally” released. Be leery.
We can make reasonable guesses as to their numbers due to where they're campaigning/advertising in heavily. But that's not foolproof...

If PA was a lost cause, they wouldn’t be campaigning in Scranton and Pittsburgh....freakin’ Pittsburgh :-) (my home). Like another poster pointed out, Biden and Hillary would not have stopped in Scranton. PA *has* to be in play. I am seeing & hearing lots of strange things here in W. PA (again, all anecdotal FWIW)....few Obama signs, lots of Democrats for McCain signs *near* Union HQs, lots of union people just neutral or pro-McCain in this election.
Now, this can all change as the Obama campaign is almost certain to plaster this area with crap in the final push to the election, but it is nice to see this support early on.
All we need is a 2% swing over 2004...that is really possible in this state.
IIRC, Kerry pulled out of FLA with two weeks left to go. I’m curious, does Obama have any campaign stops down there. If you happen to see Obama campaigning a lot in PA, OH, and VA the last two weeks of this election, I think he’s done for.
In terms of the McCain campaign, they need to target Pitt. and Scranton w. Palin ads (please, put her in an ad with him), and hit the Uniontown region (S. of Pittsburgh, should cover the north of W.VA in the Morgantown area as well) with the coal mining ads.
I’m telling Freepers, McCain can win PA....it’s a gut feeling of mine....this is coming from someone that suffered from bleeding ulcers, put up with all of the poll crap throughout 2004, and sat through that damn Redskins game before the election (Redskins lost...I almost had a heart attack...that loss indicated a Kerry win).
What happened in the end? Bush won, and I got on FR to make my first post ever (it was bad...terrible really :-) ... but if you ever saw Flash Gordon in the 80s, you’ll know what I mean :-) ).
Just donate time and money if you can!!!! (And I need to donate to FR too).

Karl used to say that a personal appearance in a state could bump poll numbers by 2 or 3% in one's favor. IF McCain is spending alot of time in PA it must mean that he sees an good opporunity it steal a blue state.
Also, if McCain is down by 2 in PA, it means that he is closer nationally than the media polls suggest. After all, Bush lost PA by about 2% in 2004. So, this means that he is doing better in states like OH, VA, NC and FL than some pollsters suggest.
These national polls will also trend in McCain's direction as the election gets closer. They want to be accurate in the end. And remember that about the only people that follow these things real seriously are the political geeks that frequent sites like this one.
Joe did not want to work harder so that Obama could arbitrarily decide that Joe made more money than he should and then have Obama take some of it and spread around to those not working as hard as he does!

I would say it does several things for him. One is that is may give the illusive youth vote for 0bama no reason to get out of bed on Nov 4th, or even pay attention anymore for that matter. Secondly, it gives him underdog status, which he likes. Third, if polls tighten (as they probably will), he gets to claim “momentum”. Hopefully the GOP turnout is extra heavy no matter what the polls say.
Say that again. Democrates voters have no opinion nor free speech of their own. Their thoughts are all plagiarisms manipulated/directed by their opinion makers, and they are quite ashamed of it and would not admit it. One cannot reason with them but only redirect them and split them with new provocative opinions.
The real vote fraud issue is that they are not free-voters. They are paid by welfare and they are repeating things they have no clue about. Just look at the number of them who are persuaded that Obama would fix the economy and knows about it more than anyone else, it's pathetic, and all this in light of the fact that his decimating terrorist and Fannie Mae ties have been revealed.
People will flock out the markets and tax brackets like when people flocked out of Detroit. America's economy is teetering because of democrates about to take power. This is a bad economic indicator... never mind the idiots who find "good buys" on a low Dow Jones when all the smart ones have already left.

I’ve posted this before, but I’ll post it again (and expect to be razzed for doing so).
Obama will win the popular vote.
McCain - if he is able to eke out a win - must do so through the electoral college. Think “Bush v. Gore all over again”, but this time expect multiple state-ballot challenges, and mass protests. It could get VERY ugly.
We will lose seats in the House - guaranteed.
We will lose seats in the Senate - again, guaranteed. There is a real possibility that the ‘rats may end up with a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate - not good.
The absolute best we can hope for is a win of the presidency that establishes some small measure of “divided government” - and that’s if McCain will give up his efforts to be “congenial” with the democrats and stand hard on conservative positions (gee, am I hoping for too much?).
Flame away, I can take it. But that’s how I’m calling it.

If McCain closes the gap in both the popular vote and the electoral college, then there is no way the RATS will pull off a filibuster-proof Senate.
Another reason why McCain must be aggressive tomorrow night and capably string a few coherent sentences together.
After seeing the new CBS poll I don’t think there is any chance that Obama is only up by 2% in PA. /sarc

exactly... why is this not considered a toss up by the media? when polls show VA close, the media jumps on it and says that it's a red state that might go blue... one that McCain should have locked up already... but no way will they say PA is a blue state that can go red... one that Obama should have locked up already... bias galore...

Ya think ya can find anything on the web...but I would love to see a transcript (or watch the video) of Bill campaigning for 0bama. I just don’t ‘feel the love’ there. And has ‘Fast Eddie’ been making a show? Again, Rendell’s support has been room temp at best.
I live in Pennsylvania and I simply can’t understand why McCain isn’t running ads that repeat Obama’s “small town Pennsylvanians” remarks; why he isn’t hitting Obama on the gun and abortion issue in western Pa. He should be leaving Palin here to tour all the towns around Pittsburgh and Erie and eastern Ohio; she talks just like a Pittsburgher right down to dropping the “ing” at the end of words and pronoucing “ideal” like “idill.” Her accent doesn’t sound foreign here at all. McCain, get some smarts and fast. You can win PA.
