Ifill and Republican Wimps (Part II)
NRO's The Corner ^ | 10/2/2008 | Peter Kirsanow

As I noted below, whether Ifill betrays a bias in favor of Obama/Biden tonight is somewhat beside the point. I'll bet that it will be hard to detect any bias in the questions she asks or the manner in which she asks them. And that's precisely why her evident conflict of interest is so insidious. It's more often the questions that aren't asked that betray bias and unfairness.

Consider: I'd wager that if a poll had been conducted one year ago asking likely voters whether a candidate who had a working relationship with an unrepentant former terrorist had even the slightest chance of being elected president, at least 80% would answer "No." Yet here we are five weeks before the election and Obama leads in most polls. That isn't because of Obama's extraordinary accomplishments, his impressive experience or invincibly superior policies. It's because the media (with one exception) haven't asked Obama about his relationship with Ayers (among other things).

Think about that: Obama began campaigning only a few years after 9/11 and while America is in the midst of a global war on terrorism and yet in nearly two years of campaigning he's been asked only once about his relationship with an unrepentant terrorist. Where would the poll numbers be if Obama were asked about his relationship with Ayers as frequently as Sarah Palin is asked about her relationship with God?

Republicans must fight (not whine about) media bias at every turn. Marshall the facts. Bypass the media gatekeepers. Don't play their game, don't turn the other cheek. Go directly to the people. Be relentless. Be cheerfully ruthless in defense of truth and accuracy.

And if debate moderators fail to bring up Ayers or Wright or Rezko or Raines or Born-Alive or Fannie Mae or the Surge, Republicans must bring them up. Don't concede that they're somehow off-limits just because the media have been doing everything in their power to ignore them. Let the media dictate the rules of engagement and you lose.

Gwen Ifill has a financial interest in electing a President who has a long-standing relationship with an unrepentant domestic terrorist.

Who ever said that our elites are decadent and corrupt?

Maybe Sarah ought to ask Ifill if there is going to be a chapter on her.

One question I would like to ask Gwen---have you sent a copy of the questions to the Obama Campaign. I have a feeling about that, and it isn't good.

No matter about Ifill. Sarah needs to be Sarah, not some made-for-TV version of herself.

From an ancient passage in wisdom literature come these words:

5Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

6Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

7Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

8Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

9She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

Authenticity and understanding will trump arrogance and bombastic style with the vast majority of individuals in America. Even the words from Proverbs 4 will be foolishness to the rest.

Since she is not going to be replaced - what would stop her if she decides to 'fall on the sword' & go all the way with Obama bias?

Who could stop her?? By doing this - she gains some very big $$$$ & gets her Messiah elected.

People in the Obama camp do many unthinkable things in order for him to win.

Will be watching this unfold tonight. It should be interesting!

For someone as biased as this to serve as "Moderator" should outrage all honest, decent, fair minded people.

ALL Americans should be frightened at the implications of this!

Are they AFRAID of the Democrats?

More accurately, they are afraid of the media.

I’m hoping that Sarah handles the “gotcha” questions well and that they will backfire on Ifill (and by extension, the Dems), big time. There is a fine line that can be crossed, where even casual viewers will be annoyed, if the questions are too blatantly worded as “traps.” We shall see — in less than an hour.

This is excellent advice and in line with hundreds of other pieces of excellent advice to the McCain campaign posted here over the past several months.

And to what avail?

It’s like there are 3 political Americas.

Political America #1 is the fantasy world of lies spun daily by the media for the benefit of the Democrat Party, which wallows in the lies and enriches itself by them.

Political America #2 is the entire body of conservative commentary that is strikingly in agreement about most of the details of Political America #3.

And then there is the majority of Republican politicians, McCain, unfortunately, included. This peculiar Political America #3 is vaguely aware of the lies of Political America #1 but completely and totally oblivious to the analysis of Political America #2.

Three separate realities. Kept continuously separated by the overwhelming stupidity of the Republican Establishment.

Wake up and smell the coffee, McCain. It’s not too late. It ain’t over till it’s over.

But you have to FIGHT, man, FIGHT!

Ifill got dirty quickly anouncing rules then breaking them herself on the very first question giving no followup time for it. She only enforced “rules” against Palin throughout.

At 12:55 Palin anounces she will answer Bidens attack at 13:39 Ifill cuts off Palin off. She in hurting Biden so Ifill breaks the rule completely cutting her of after only 45 seconds abruptly and nasty as any woman ever. “Now let’s move on here”. Boy was Biden smiling as Ifill bitchslapped Palin.

Ifill then asked a really bad question acussing McCain of hurting the poor by taking their insurance away because employers will pay taxes on insurance, but get a $5,000 credit. While helping Biden by playing the class warfare card.

From 17:50 through 19:30 Biden drones on 100 seconds and is awarded first on next question. Why was he not cut off like Sarah? Need I ask.

Later on (32:30) Biden is doing very badly lamely defending his no coal in America statement, he goes on for 100 seconds whereupon Ifill tries to help him out with a new question of Sarah.
Sarah speaks for 70 seconds she is destroying Biden Ifill again cuts off Palin off (remember Biden just got 100 seconds) to help Biden for the next 55 seconds she helps Biden out of the hole jumping in with help as needed.

54:50 Palin is destroying Biden on the Iraq and Afganistan war. Ifill awards Biden a full 120 seconds. But it doesn’t help much so Ifill tries to help Biden by correcting his mistakes in a question to Sarah who gets 45 seconds.
Ifill then gives Biden an extra question he drones on 100 seconds but is not cut off like Palin was (he is doing poor but OK).

At 69:10 Biden ask can I respond? Ifill answers very sweetly “Please” (break the rules again). Thankfully Sarah didn’t give Ifill a chance to cut her off this time by speaking up loudly and quickly.

On the next question they joked a little. Ifill was somewhat fair for the last 20 minutes.

I would imaging that Biden most likely got a few more minutes total time than Sarah.
