Morris: "McCain is losing the election this minute"
Fox News | 9/30/08

Posted on 09/30/2008 1:33:52 PM PDT by pabianice

Dick Morris on Fox: McCain is bungling the bail-out issue so badly that he has basically lost the election by "a lot; will be 12 points behind Obama next week." McCain "is giving this issue away to Obama" by being ineffective and not pinning it rightfully on Pelosi, ACORN, and the Dems.

Pro-Obama ads are running 3-1 vs. McCain ads. Obama videos/Yoytube are running ten to one against McCain. I can't understand how a brave warrior like McCain can be so blind and go down with no fight. HOW can McCain let the ACORN issue just slide away?

He needs to drop the ‘earmark’ nonsense and go after the real corruption in Washington, the wholesale looting of the national treasury.

Current events make 'earmarks' look pretty trivial don't they. I agree, that McCain's only chance now is to champion free market alternatives to the bailout in whatever form. Many such interventions exist, and some might actually solve underlying problems while preserving the peoples' freedom.

Freedom. When was the last time we heard this word from either candidate? Ever? I can't recall.

I hate to admit it,,,but I agree with Morris on this one.

I understand and yet fortunately every time I have agreed with Morris I was wrong......so far.

"..HOW can McCain let the ACORN issue just slide away?.."

Maybe he is being stubborn and taking the "high road" when he should be using brass knuckles or at least have his campaign do it.

He stuck to his guns on the immigration issue, too, no matter how it upset conservatives.

He's even using the same "Unpopular but necessary legislation" line. I really can't believe he's this damn dense.

People, we need to understand that the bill has to get done and signed before McCain will do any finger pointing. He is too much of a patriot for that. Once a bipartisan bill is achieved and passed, McCain will tell the tell. The question is, will Pelosi, Obama, Reid and Frank have convinced the public that it’s all McCain’s fault by the time he speaks on this?

No — that is not correct. Morris said that suspending the campaign was fine PROVIDED THAT McCain took full advantage of the matter at the Friday night debate. Instead, McCain went wobbly and didn’t even bother to explain his actions to the American people, let alone assign the blame to his opponent.

If Morris says McCain is losing, we should be very happy!

McCain waffled. Time to change tactics and get hard-nosed.

Normally true, but I think even Dick can see this one coming.

I have been upbeat about McCain's chances until I watched his response to the bailout. Barring a miracle, I now think we are looking at a total GOP wipe out in November. The Republican Party may not even survive.

A majority of the country is embracing the Socialist solutions being offered by the left. The GOP is doing precious little to counter them. Sadly, we will all pay a very heavy price because of this.

It will take years, maybe even decades, for our nation to dig out from the disaster that is about to befall us. The truly scary part is a weak America will also be seen as a very vulnerable America by our enemies.

We have no one to blame. We, as a country, are doing it to ourselves.

Yes to your question. McCain is losing the public relations war as I type - and has been since Friday night.

He must have fired the people responsible for those great ads his campaign ran during the summer.
Today’s ad calls 0bama a hypocrite, in plain English. Although he is, the ad leaves a very bad impression.
I can’t believe how he is letting people beat him up, either. Straight talk isn’t name calling, it’s having principles and defending them.
It’s like he’s not even trying.

The last part of your last sentence is dead on....you refer to the possibility that this country could be “lost forever.”

You are dead on...

A President Obama will appoint at least 2, more likely 3 and possibly 4 Supreme Court justices...

Adios 2nd Amendment.

Hello “Fairness Doctrine”

Hello to a country you will no longer recognize...

So why doesn’t he? Why WON’T HE?
Why WON’T OTHER REPUBLICANS point this out?
Why did Bush just lay down and let Pelosi Galore run all over him with her hate speech yesterday? Why didn’t Bush address the reasons for this mess when he addressed the country this morning.

It makes me wonder how just how much ALL members of Congress ended up fattening their wallets during the time when $$$ were being made from these bad loans being written. I think they all have something to hide.

I don’t put much stock in Morris, usually. But this is simply common sense. If you sit back while you’re getting mugged, you’re dead.

What I can't understand, however, is why Obama is getting the boost in the polls when he is even more culpable than McCain in all this??

There is a cynical old piece of office humor about the lifecycle of a good idea in an organizaton. I can't remember it all but the last couple of stages of the cycle include "frantic pointing of fingers and fixing of blame" and "praise and honors for the nonparticipants."

It's easy to understand. The banks own McCain. He'll never do anything that goes against the interest of the banks. Even if it means losing the election.

Very good ad. Why isn’t McCain running it on TV in the NH media market with NH so close?
