Folks, I spoke with a few Iowans I know and they report that many of their friends and relatives back home want to vote for McCain.
But they want him to reverse his position and support Ethanol.
Since McCain is the only candidate on record supporting a freeze on government spending, I think its a good idea for him to SUPPORT ethanol, and cut something else instead in its place.
Ethanol is a total scam. Country first.
Sounds like Iowans are the Marxists.
Corn based ethanol is a waste of resources. Takes more energy to make it than it contains.......
Ethanol sucks in cars and is a total waste except maybe in industrial applications. Get it out of my car and we can talk. Maybe corn sqeezings will make a comeback.
I am an Iowan and I know of very few people that support ethanol enough to put it in their cars. It is a bad deal all around. I think McCain’s opposition to ethanol subsidies is a push at worst, vote wise. It certainly makes me happier with John McCain.
No can do.
Ethanol was a bad idea from the start. Looks like those folks in Ohio will just have to vote for Obama for their Ethanol money along with the other handouts!
And the people of Ohio want to vote for McCain, all we need is the use of a vacation home, one week, for each family in Ohio.
And in Virginia... everyone wants a pony.
“Ethanol is a total scam. Country first.”
You said it right.
I agree.
sounds like Iowans are hooked on welfare. We can win without them. Ethanol subsidies are a scam.
I have to give McCain credit for defying the ethanol lobby. Ethanol is just another farm subsidy that does nothing to give us energy independence. I know it is the “third rail” of Midwestern politics, but it is a boondoggle none the less.
Aside from the arguments against ethanol that are rooted in science, one needs to ask the question... if ethanol is so great, why does it need subsidies? Why can't it stand on its own without taxpayer help?
I was going to say something but posts 2 thru 6 covered it.
screw ethanol....I went by a gas station today and e-85 was actually MORE than regular unleaded (with 10% ethanol)....why would anyone buy a flex fuel vehicle to burn that crap is beyond me, especially now that falling oil prices have made e-85 economically uncompetitive. Feed the corn to the pigs, I want my baby back ribs.
They want to screw the country, but they don't want the country to screw them.
Iowa - Reverse YOUR position on ethanol
