Interestingly, when McCain/Palin campaigned in Northern Virginia, they were scheduled to speak at a public school but then were told they could not because the school was public and that to allow them to speak there would be showing favoritism to one party over another.
Now Obama gets to speak at U of MW which is a state-funded school. Is this not showing favoritism to one party over another?
Then, to top it off, they suppress the 1st amendment rights of those in attendance.
Just for the record, I favor both sides being able to speak at public places. I do not favor either candidate being shouted down by hecklers. To do so is to deny the candidate his freedom of speech. I think dissenters should have some sort of reasonable access, but not disruptive access during a speech. For example, I don’t think the RNC was an appropriate place for disruption by Dem operatives and I would equally oppose Republicans disrupting the DNC.
I do not see how free expression via signage could be prohibited in a free society. This smacks of totalitarianism.
On the other hand, Obama was allowed to use the same school during summer session ~ when it wasn't all that busy around there.
The school board is not all wrong on this since school was in session at the time, but their motives were, in fact, evil and will be remembered.
