McCain Likes Democrat Andrew Cuomo for SEC Chief Monday, September 22, 2008 By Susan Jones, Senior Editor

(CNSNews.com) - If he's elected president, Republican Sen. John McCain says he would want Democrat Andrew Cuomo to chair the Securities and Exchange Commission.

McCain, who has called for Republican SEC chief Chris Cox to resign, made the comment on the CBS program "60 Minutes" Sunday night.

"I'm curious," CBS Correspondent Scott Pelley told McCain. "If you want to fire Chris Cox, the chairman of the SEC, who would you replace him with?"

McCain responded: "This may sound a little unusual, but I've admired Andrew Cuomo. I think he is somebody who could restore some credibility, lend some bipartisanship to this effort.”

Pelley: He's a Democrat.

This is proof we have no GOOD candidate in this fight. I’ll vote for Palin, but understand that McCain is an appalling candidate for the Republican party...I’m under no illusion that McCain is either a conservative, or even a reasonably bright adult.

And yet, on his bad days, he’s still a lot better than Obama.

Have you considered putting a red “X” thru the McCain part of your sign?

Has McCain lost his mind? Credibility? Bipartisanship? Prestige & respect as Secretary of HUD?

Someone wake up McCain before he loses his base. This is beyond belief!

Andrew Cuomo for SEC chief would be brilliant.
It's clear that the Administration wants to move ever closer to a ChiCom model of Capitalism.
So, who better to implement an ever growing Gov't led central planning socialist economic model than a Dem.
From each (the taxpayer) according to your ability, to each (the BIG guys) according to to their needs ($700B - probably growing to $2T).
McCain, you magnificent bastard, I read your playbook.

As bad as McCain is, he wasn't raised my Muzzies, communist sympathizers, and he's not a Marxist.

Possible reasons:

(1) Friends close, enemies closer.

(2) By example -- FDR appoints Joe Kennedy, others to positions of trust. A thief to guard thieves.

(3) Ruin Cuomo and associates by putting him in the spotlight. Not quite "Damn by faint praise", more like taking the target off his back and putting it on Cuomo.

This is just another example of where John reaches across the isle and gets nothing in return. Cuomo is yet another attorney in a city filled with attorneys. The job begs for someone who can understand the economic issues at hand and who doesn't see the solution as little more than a flood of subpoenas. McCain needs to realize that there are a lot of us out here who see such an appointment as another RINO move and don't appreciate it one bit. The smartest thing he could do right now is quash this rumor before it goes too far.

Andrew Cuomo, the youngest Housing and Urban Development secretary in history, made a series of decisions between 1997 and 2001 that gave birth to the country's current crisis...

John. You're not helping the not senile case.

Yep...This is the real John McCain (he ain't no Reagan).

No friend of conservatives...

It would take a real extreme leftist opponent for a conservative to even remotely consider pushing the button for McCain (a problem that Palin can't counter).

Oh...wait a minute.

It’s politics at work. Make some Bi-partisan moves 4 or 5 weeks before the election. McCain does not have to sway your opinion but he does have to sway some Democrats to vote for him.

McCain has attacked Obama about never crossing the aisle and working in a Bi-Partsan manner. Cuomo name was thrown out there to attract some NEW YORK VOTES! The name Cuomo is popular in New York and McCain new that it was a shot to get some Anti-Obama New Yorkers fired up to cross the line and vote for him.

Nothing here other then a good political move by McCain.

We need to find out who is putting this garbage in McCain’s head and why? Do they want him to lose the election? Given McCain’s history of sticking his finger in our eyes, it might be his ‘big idea’....but he has to be getting advice on this matter from someone in his camp at this point. WHO?

He does not have to make good on the appointment if he is elected. This is purely for New York State votes. He will never appoint the Rat!

I believe you are correct. His entire theme is that he and Palin are going to Washington as "Mavericks". He's got to show that Obama is a liberal partisan who won't be able to bring change.

Somebody tell McCain what time it is.

Somebody needs to tell him to SHUT - UP. He can still very much loose this thing. He needs to smile at the cameras and talk about his accomplishments which will further agitate the high holy one.

Just political moves.

No sale.

If McCain had done any research, he would have realized Cuomo’s involvement with the Fanny and Freddie fiasco and would have stayed far away from him. Now all it’s going to do is get the MSM to come out with it, and destroy Cuomo even with the lefties. So any gains McCain could have made would be nullified.
