WASHINGTON - A man who has long been dogged by charges that the bank his family owns helped finance a Chicago crime figure will host a Windy City fund-raiser tonight for Sen. Barack Obama.
Alexi Giannoulias, who became Illinois state treasurer last year after Obama vouched for him, has pledged to raise $100,000 for the senator's Oval Office bid.
Before he promised to raise funds for Obama, Giannoulias bankrolled Michael "Jaws" Giorango, a Chicagoan twice convicted of bookmaking and promoting prostitution.
Giannoulias is so tainted by reputed mob links that several top Illinois Dems, including the state's speaker of the House and party chairman, refused to endorse him even after he won the Democratic nomination with Obama's help.
Giannoulias was the bank's vice president and chief loan officer for most of the more than $15 million in loans.

Θbama's friend Tony Rezko was also a client with Broadway Bank. It is reminiscent of Clinton's ties to the Riadys and John Huang's banks. See Source Watch for further info on Obama's shady Chicago friends

Welcome to Illinois. Check your morals at the door - they won’t be needed. You gotta problem wit dat? Waddaya lookin’s at?
A presidential campaign that banks with crime figures: According to an article in the Chicago Tribune, in 2006 Obama endorsed and appeared in campaign commercials for Alex Giannoulias, a banker who ran for Illinois state treasurer. Obama backed Giannoulias despite reports that his family-owned Broadway Bank made loans to bookmakers, prostitution rings and other criminal operations. “Records show Giannoulias and his family had given more than $10,000 to Obama’s campaign, which banked at Broadway,”
Alexi is bad news and Obama loves him. Alexi walks around Chicago like he owns the place. He’s learned well from Obama. He’s the next star in Chicago politics.
Obama tries to use associations to tie McCain to lobbyists.... WOW now that is the pot calling the Kettle Black Obama Associations, Mobster, Terrorists, Radical Preachers.... What poor judegement that shows.... How can anyone in America trust this man and he is never questioned on the associations or made to explain them. If you or I hung out with this crowd we wouldn’t be able to run for County office let alone the Presidency. Liberal liar double standards....
Ping.
Thanks, Granny!
And Broadway Bank is one of the banks that Salman Ibrahim from Sunrise Equities and Shariah Board of America advised on shariah guidelines:

The corruption in Chicago is still absolutely nauseating.
In my home state of Illinois, we call someone an “honest” politician if after he has been “bought”, stays “bought”.
The list of undesirables (to say the least) associated with Obama just grows and grows doesn’t it? Yet half the country never hears about it. They need to and in a big way, it would be the KEY to stopping him for sure.
Show me who your friends are and I’ll show you who you are.
Tony Rezko, Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Jodie Evans, Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson, Father Michael Pfleger, and so many like them are among Obama’s friends.
Personnel is policy.
Are these the kind of people you want surounding the next President?
September 5, 2007 is when that article is dated!!!!!
Here we go here we go here we gonow....
$100,000.00 that’s small change for Barack. Hell, that’s less than four “Hollywood celebrities paid for seats at the dinner at the Beverly Wilshire hotel last week.
Yet half the country never hears about it. They need to and in a big way, it would be the KEY to stopping him for sure.<<<
I keep telling them, but they don’t listen.
If they spent time trying to understand what they were voting for, we would not have the problems we do have today.
The corruption in Chicago is still absolutely nauseating.<<<
Yes, and apt to get worse, esp. if Obama and crowd take over.
