Fatimah Ali: 'Race war' in America
Phillidelphia Inquirer ^ | 9/16/2008 | Fatimah Ali

Posted on 09/16/2008 6:58:39 AM PDT by markomalley

AT LEAST 2 million readers visit DrudgeReport.com daily, and, for the last two weeks, it seemed like most of them were steamed at me.

(snip)

I stand by the column - but after all of that backlash, I realize I was dead wrong. We don't have to wait until after the election for a race war. We're in one now.

I know that putting the words "race" and "war" together is like hurling an incendiary device. But I wasn't issuing a call to arms, it was a metaphorical prediction.

I hate violence, but I do see a growing wave of intolerance sweeping the nation. And most of the responses were hostile, like one from someone who identified himself as Dennis Van Pelt: "Obama runs like a porch monkey in Alabama during a KKK concert." But, not all white Southerners feel like Dennis. Russ Nelson wrote: "I am a white male who was proud to cast my vote for Barack Obama in the Alabama state primary. He inspires me!"

Nelson sounds more like the liberal whites I grew up with in West Mount Airy, a community that pioneered integration in Philadelphia and kept me wearing rose-colored glasses. I didn't personally experience racism until I was 40, and then it hit me like a ton of bricks.

The recent onslaught of hate mail I received is a cruel reminder that racism is a like a simmering pot ready to boil over. But it's diametrically opposed to what democracy should represent.

it was a metaphorical prediction. Typical backtracking, that's not what I meant BS we always here when a moonbat gets confronted.

Let’s see if I get this straight. They run a black Marxist lunatic who’s the dumbest candidate in history. 90+ black voters fall all over themselves to support him.

Yet everyone else is racist and intolerant?

Ok, got it.

I hope and pray that there will not be any violence.

I will take the Freeper pledge not to incite violence if Obama wins this election, and challenge the other side to make the same pledge. Violence has no place in our elections. Emotions run high but we settle things at the ballot box, not in the streets.

the dumbest candidate in history

You're obviously too young to remember Jimmy Carter.

"Fatimah Ali: 'Race war' in America"

So Fatimah - are you going to use the combat skills your father taught you to conduct your little war? Oh wait, he was a draft dodger. Never mind. It's just words.

I lived in Detroit durning the riots. We were friends with the black family next door.... When the riot broke the family next door turn mean and cruel...They tried to kick in our door. Stood if front of our apartment calling us everything but white.... I did not understand what we did wrong, we did not treat them like that..

Tell me, who was it that brought it up in the first place?

I pray for no violence also.

How sad that others made such vicious comments according to her article.

When I was a student at public schools in the 60's and 70's I heard vile comments from both blacks and whites.

Has been years since I heard a racial slur in conversation today. I have heard many more originating from the media over the years.

Her immediate concerns should be worrying about being
carjacked or shot in a drive-by in Philly!

As much as if you had a shaved head and a swastika tat over your heart, according to some.

Fatima is right.

She can see a racist in every mirror she looks into.

Your story reminds me of “Hotel Rwanda”.

Hutus who had been friends for years with Tutsi turned on them. It's the mob mentality. And very scary.

She was probably correct.

However, it won’t be started by whites. That would be my prediction.

Just turn the racism comments back on them.

If a vote for McCain is a “racist” vote, than a vote for Obama is a “sexist” vote.

Any violence? Probably not much, unless one perceives childbirth as violent. There'll just be the usual, minor, inner-city rioting, with inner-city people burning inner-city buildings and parked cars. Kinda like France's Islam-dominated apartment blocks. The real race war in America is demographic, and the Mexican teenage girl seems to be the weapon of choice. Illegal or no, Hispanics are bypassing blacks as "the other" in America. Blacks marry less frequently and abort more frequently than "immigranto/a Hispanico/as" and will probably soon be down below 10% of the American population.

This particular revolution, like so many others, won't be televised, except on border fence surveillance camera film and on proud, Spanish-speaking parents' birth videos.
