If there was any doubt that John McCain's surprise pick of Sarah Palin has grabbed the attention of many Republicans, Barbara Falk, a retiree born and raised in this quaint small town, put it to rest yesterday: "I came out to see her."
So did Falk's friend Pat Mantel, who said, "I do enjoy that vice president that McCain picked." And so did Mantel's sister Carol Eberhardt, a retired lab worker and single mother of three, who said, "She speaks my language."
A day after McCain gave what many critics panned as a flat acceptance speech, Palin proved to be a popular draw.
She energized a once-sparkless campaign in the McCain-Palin ticket's first two campaign stops after the Republican National Convention.
Crowds of people jammed streets for blocks around the downtown stage set up here for the GOP ticket - the campaign put out a crowd estimate, drawn from the area, of 12,000 (matching Cedarburg's population).
It would be a scene repeated yesterday afternoon in Sterling Heights, Mich., a Reagan Democrat stronghold.

How does Hillary going to Tampa change the dynamic as far as Palin getting women voters to her side? It would seem the contrast between Palin and Hillary (Beauty and the beast) would work in Palin’s favor.
Not sure...just that it seems as soon as they found out Hillary was going to be there they postponed it.

Illinois won’t be in question. Iowa possibly. Or Ohio, Virginia?
OK thanks!
Great post! She will revitalize the Repubilcan party.
Exactly its hard to imagine all the questions they have been ducking and all the news stories they don’t cover just to pump this phony up.
And without male votes, Obama will lose this election.
I recently read that more men vote Rep, and more women vote Dem.
Zero’s appeal to hillary to save him is an appeal to the women voters she attracts.
The reaction of women to Palin, and to the sexist media bias towards her is crucial.
Women voters will determine this election, imo.
Obama is humor impaired.

Please, please, please bring her to Johnstown, PA. She will help defeat that pig Murtha.
This was the legendary first skirmish between Hillary and Palin. That being said, this sounds like a tactical move to me. The RATs zigged by sending Hillary, so Sara zagged by doing something useful somewhere else. Hillary can waste her time in Florida shooting her uninspired, mercenary load at a target who knew enough not to be there (almost like a Huntress would know). And Sara can always come back to Florida later.
The only problem for McCain is that once they split up on the campaign trail, she’s going to get huge turnouts, and no one is going to show up to see him without her.

Yes we do!!!
I’m only pokin’ yer ribs, bud. ;-)
Yeah, I’d love to see her in Dallas. She’d get a wonderful reception here.
